Bollman hired as MSU OC
@footballscoop: Sources tell us Jim Bollman is expected to accept the Michigan State OC job
So. There's that.
For those of you who don't know, Bollman was Tressel's OC from 2001-11.

3 yards and a cloud of felonies.
February 27th, 2013 at 9:17 AM ^
Just end the thread. No comment shall be funnier than this.
February 27th, 2013 at 10:59 AM ^
Agreed.
February 27th, 2013 at 9:30 AM ^
AJJ Shoots.....
HE SCORES!
February 27th, 2013 at 10:54 AM ^
I wonder how many points this would have gotten on the old voting system..

Sparty Gon' Spart
February 27th, 2013 at 9:17 AM ^
Can't say I blame him given the upgrade in terms of the school and position, but a bit of douchy move
February 27th, 2013 at 9:19 AM ^
Jerry Montgomerey did the same thing ti IU with us.
February 27th, 2013 at 10:25 AM ^
There is a slight difference between position coach and coordinator. I still don't think it's something to condemn him over, but those two situations aren't really comparable.
February 27th, 2013 at 4:34 PM ^
Bollman was the OL coach at Purdue, not the OC
February 27th, 2013 at 10:26 AM ^
The fact that he was only at Purdue for a very short time makes him easier to replace, not harder. Also, is there really a better time of year to leave?
How long did Purdue think they were going to keep OSU's former OC as a position coach? In all seriousness, if I am Purdue's head coach and one of my position coaches gets offered the OC job at a better program for 2x-3x the salary, I'm not asking him to stay. I'd tell him he'd be a fool not to take it. Hazell, Dantonio and Bollman all worked together at OSU. I'd be very surprising if this move caused any hard feelings among the coaching staffs.
February 27th, 2013 at 10:46 AM ^
Purdue suddenly got better while MSU actually regressing offensively.
I had to get up and close the office door I was laughing so uncontrollably when I read this. I'm still laughing.
February 27th, 2013 at 11:36 AM ^
Just like the old joke:
A student flunks out of Michigan and enrolls at OSU. And the average GPAs at both schools went up.
February 27th, 2013 at 6:04 PM ^
...a Mike DeBord in their lives.
February 27th, 2013 at 9:17 AM ^
...but, but it's suppossed to be Tressel himself.

I can't wait until MSU plays Iowa, should be a barn burner.
February 27th, 2013 at 9:21 AM ^
That game should be played behind closed doors. No cameras, no fans. No one deserves to watch that.
February 27th, 2013 at 10:55 AM ^
err... couch burner?
February 27th, 2013 at 9:20 AM ^
HAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAHHAHA
February 27th, 2013 at 9:20 AM ^
I like that Mark Dantonio has gone out of his way to ensure years of Sparty Nos.
February 27th, 2013 at 9:42 AM ^
Does this mean that out routes will develop even slower for Michigan State now? I would also enjoy seeing the amusing return of the slowly developing inside run for no gain, as well as a smattering of false starts. If you're going to hire Bollman, hire classic Bollman. In any case, I expect State to have the most practiced punter in the Big Ten now - he'll get more than his fair share of chances now.
February 27th, 2013 at 9:23 AM ^
Beat out other candidate,
A jar of pickles.
February 27th, 2013 at 9:23 AM ^
Jim Bollman was the most wildly incompetent OC in the B1G. They suceeded because they recruited great athletes and Tressel called the plays. Bollman called their plays in 2011 and I can only hope the lulz extend to East Lansing.
February 27th, 2013 at 9:24 AM ^
Wow.
Bollman - explosive OSU athletes = ???
February 27th, 2013 at 9:24 AM ^
WOTS is Maurice Clarett will be MSU's new running backs coach.
February 27th, 2013 at 9:33 AM ^
He's also rumored to be in line for the positions of Bushwacking Guide and Bartender.
February 27th, 2013 at 10:19 AM ^
Daniel Stern for that position.
February 27th, 2013 at 9:24 AM ^
February 27th, 2013 at 9:26 AM ^
Drake Harris, come on down! You'll want no part of that offense. Go Blue!
February 27th, 2013 at 9:27 AM ^
Hahaha of course they did. I hope RCMB is starting up the "Bring back Roushar" threads right now...
February 27th, 2013 at 9:27 AM ^
Great hire for every other team in the Big Ten.
February 27th, 2013 at 9:28 AM ^
God, I fucking love nepotism when it absolutely destroys and embarasses your rival.
February 27th, 2013 at 11:01 AM ^
I hear what you're saying, but this isn't nepotism. This is just cronyism. At least, I think it's cronyism. Dantonio and Bollman aren't related, are they?
February 27th, 2013 at 9:29 AM ^
The most MSU move ever.
February 27th, 2013 at 9:30 AM ^
At least they can keep the same playbook.
February 27th, 2013 at 9:33 AM ^
Probably not a bad hire for them. When you're a small program, you kinda have to take what you can get.
February 27th, 2013 at 10:42 AM ^
This could be the best comment in a thread full of tremendous comments.
February 27th, 2013 at 9:41 AM ^
If you don't have twitter, now is a good time to get an account... Here's a sample of the internet reaction:
Matt Hinton @MattRHinton: Mark Dantonio, world's most boring sadist.
Adam Rittenberg @ESPN_BigTen: Um, alrighty then RT @footballscoop: Sources tell us Jim Bollman is expected to accept the Michigan State OC job
EDSBS @edsbs: The wildlife conservationist in me thanks Mark Dantonio for opening his walrus preserve. The football fan in me is horrified."
February 27th, 2013 at 9:37 AM ^
to downgrade from Roushar. hahaha
February 27th, 2013 at 9:40 AM ^
Is putting the band back together. Next, he will hire Tressel as a football "consultant" with a pay scale that makes him ostensibly Dantonio's head coach. The transformation will be complete.
February 27th, 2013 at 9:42 AM ^
TROLOLOL.
Thought maybe will all the investments they've made in their facilities (WOO BIG SCOREBOARDS FOR MORE ADS!) they would shell out for a decent OC. Pleased as punch to find that's not the case.
February 27th, 2013 at 9:45 AM ^
Your move Urb...
February 27th, 2013 at 9:45 AM ^
Hahaha, this is awesome. Only MSU would hire an awful coach solely because he's an OSU guy.
February 27th, 2013 at 9:58 AM ^
February 27th, 2013 at 9:51 AM ^
This pleases me.
February 27th, 2013 at 9:52 AM ^
This is the most hilarious hire ever. Stupid Sparty
February 27th, 2013 at 9:59 AM ^
Not sure it gets better than this. MSU should just buy their OCs in bulk at Costco to save them some money.
