Adidas to Offer Shoe Deal to Fastest 40 (EDIT: & Combine Open Thread)

Submitted by mgokev on

Article is over at ESPN but Denard should have a pretty good chance at competing for this deal.

The WWL however thinks there are a few others to look out for:

Players that are favorites to run the fastest time include Tennessee's Cordarrelle Patterson, University of North Carolina's Giovani Bernard and Marquise Goodwin of Texas.

I can't believe people are surprised Denard ran that fast and are saying he is more quick than fast...what team were you watching the last four years? Not surprised!

I would've been surprised if he ran 4.25 like Austin and Goodwin, but Denard runs a 4.3-4.4 with ease.

The kid was on the Michigan track team, not sure why we act like we've never seen him run before.

I think his 2nd attempt will be fast. I expect him to run closer to 4.3 flat (hand timed).

The clock starts on the runner, so you can't really false start. What's happening is when the arm goes up, you have to hold it for "3 counts" before you can run. Denard and others were going and soon as the arm went up and that's why they got stopped.

The stumbles are probably jus nerves and the fact that this is unorthodox in nature. You'll never run like this again in your life. And you'll never just take off trying to run as fast as you can with nothing else in mind. At lot of these guys are just trying too hard to get everything perfect.

On his second try, in case you haven't heard. Oh yeah, he just ran his second attempt, it was a 4.45 in the 40...I will post as soon as I hear about his second attempt, should be around 4.45, if I had to guess

I'd love to see him in RB drills. I've always felt his role in the NFL will be in a Percy Harvin/Dexter McCluster type role.

KR/PR, slot...but not Welker slot. Bubble screen, quick screen, short crossing route slot and speed RB plays. Then also some Wilcat.

He's a player that I'd try to get the ball 10-15 times a game. Rarely down the field (although I would send him on a "go" route 1-2 times a game to see if he can get behind the defense). Just get the ball in his hands and let him get as many yards as he can.
