Kinnick Stadium: tips for buying tickets wanted

Submitted by Catholepistimiad on

I'm going out to Iowa City for this year's UM game. I don't have tickets in hand. If anyone reading this has been to Iowa for a game, are there any suggestions regarding
(1) good/bad sightlines; how bad are the low rows in endzone, etc?
(2) prospects of buying tickets day of the game, and what price expectations I should have.

Thank you.

out there as well.

We just got our tickets last week on Ebay. In general, it seems like a very hot ticket this year. Homecoming game, night game, etc. We ended up paying $150 apiece for 4 tickets in the Michigan section, and that was easily the best deal we could find (searched craigslist, ebay, stubhub, etc.). That is more than we paid last year for PSU tickets (roughly $100 apiece).

Don't know anything about the stadium or gameday ticket possibilities, but I do know I will be holed up in the overnight parking in a big rented RV.

Let's give Catholipistimiad until this afternoon to take the first shot at it. If I don't hear from him by this evening, I'll look for you (or you can look for me) . In the meantime, I'll see if I can get the location info. They only arrived last Friday and I took a quick look before leaving for the game on Saturday. They seemed fine for visitors tickets.

I have 4 available, but at least two are yours if you like. They are Sec 108, which looks like G-10 yard line, closer to the field, but row number is double digits so they can't be too low. How do you suggest we get in touch? If you're going on Sat, I can meet you before the game.

Got my tickets through StubHub - $175 each after adding on service fees, delivery, etc. Section 102 on the Michigan sideline. You should know that face is listed as $70. Figured it was worth it considering the investment of getting to Iowa City - didn't want to get down there and have to worry about getting into the game.

Stubhub and EBay would be my first bets.

I've never been to Kinnick, but I've heard the sight lines are decent but not incredible in the endzones

I was there the last time we played them, the only advice I give is, watch you back that this game. These fans are rude and throw things. HARD

Worst fans I've experienced in the Big Ten (though I haven't been to tUoOS for a game yet).

We were walking to the stadium from our tailgate, and as we passed a parking structure with people tailgating at the top of it, got full cans of beer thrown at us from five stories up. One older lady even got hit in the head with one.

The cops just looked at us and then looked away.

I'm going to be there as well, and I also don't have a ticket. I was thinking about using stubhub and going into the Iowa student section.

Stubhub is still pretty reasonable at this point (120ish each for sets). Who knows, if Iowa starts dropping games, the ticket prices may start coming down.

I got in contact with someone through Craigslist and we met in an isolated gas station in the outskirts of Iowa City for the deal. I paid 150 and im pretty psyched. My ticket has a graphic of an old Hawkeye logo over a Michigan helmet all in muted yellow tones. Does anyone else have one similar?. If mines a counterfeit then its a good one.

I feel like you probably went to the Chicken Shack on the southeast side of town. The last time I was there, the clerk on duty was busy hotboxing his car with a friend. While the store was unattended.

got mine for about $175 a piece for 2 on stub hub. section 131 which is 5 yard line area. row 16. but as a previous poster said, it's better to be with a group or with some hawkeye fans. i'll be tailgating from about 7 am til gametime with hawk fans. they're alright if you know some of them but others are unruly.

They drink a lot, including the much older adults. Also, when I used to live there, I would see people streaming out of night games during and after halftime, when there was still a decent game going on.

IIRC, there have been serious cutbacks this year in terms of tailgating space (Olive Court is all gone), so things on the west side of the river are going to be more cramped than ever.

Well hopefully this isn't considered spam, but I recently created a website devoted to the exact topic of where to buy tickets.

Here's the spot where I cover at the game:
http://www.smarterticketbuying.com/buying-options-pros-and-cons/#attheg…

I still have a lot of info to add to the site, but it should give you a good basis to start from.

With this particular game, it's going to be a popular one. Both teams are undefeated and as you know the Iowa fans are some of the most loyal in the business. If you go early and try to get extras off a fan (not one of the scalpers) you should be able to pick some up for $100 a ticket. Prices are really high online right now because of limited supply (less than 300 tickets roughly). There are still plenty of fans in Iowa who don't yet know how to sell their tickets online.

Cheers
