For basketball it's actually not that early in the process. It's still kind of early, like say the equivalent of summer for football players, but with an early signing period and fewer recruits, basketball prospects tend to get offered a bit earlier.

Now he may get an offer still from Duke or UNC, but my feeling is those schools are looking or waiting on a few others first.

I hate to make a comparison to Cody Zeller, but we need to start protecting our borders and keep big prospects instate. Let's hope we can land this fish

Actually his mom lives in Michigan.

"Well my dad played at Missouri and my mom lives in Michigan, so those two schools have been on me since the eighth grade, so that is where (the rumors) come from," he said.

Booker has already made a few unofficials to UofM in the past I think (going back to last year).  He's the guy I want the most in this next class.

UNC just offered Rashad Vaughn and is their #1 priority at SG right now. Of course that doesnt mean UNC wont offer Booker, but even though there is mutual interest, he is not their top guy. Same goes for Duke. There is mutual interest but I dont believe they offered him yet, either.

According to an article on Rivals, Devin says he has offers from Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Michigan, Missouri, Michigan State and Mississippi State.

It appears at this point Michigan State has offered him even though on his actual Rivals page it doesn't show up.

I'm pretty sure Booker likes MSU too. There is some type of GR connection with Booker, Drake Harris, AAU ball, and all that good stuff.

Booker is not going to be an easy get, but I think Michigan has as good a shot as anybody. Michigan is a major player again in college hoops, and an attractive destination. Great tradition, excellent program, excellent school, chance to play early, and play for a coach who will develop you and encourage you to shoot the ball. Mike McGee  would have loved Coach B.

Since Devin Booker sort of reminds me of Mike McGee, Here is a little bio on M hoops legend Mike McGee. McGee never saw a shot he didn't like.

Mike McGee: The pride of Omaha North HS in Omaha Nebraska

"McGee ranks fifth in school history with his career scoring average of 21.3 ppg. He ranks second on Michigan’s all-time list with 2,439 career points (just 3 points behind Glen Rice) and first with 1,010 career field goals.

In his senior season McGee averaged 24.40 ppg which is the 8th best single season average in school history.

McGee is one of only 3 Wolverines to record four 400 point seasons.

McGee was selected in the first round of the 1981 NBA Draft by the Los Angeles Lakers. He played in the NBA for 9 years and was a member of two NBA Championship teams with the Lakers (1982, 85)."

Name FG FGA FG% Avg Season
Mike McGee 217 439 0.494 19.7 77-78
Mike McGee 207 455 0.455 18.9 78-79
Mike McGee 277 584 0.474 22.2 79-80
Mike McGee 309 600 0.515 24.4 80-81

Pretty sweet class you came in with. I liked those teams alot, even though they didn't have great success based on W's and L's

Big Ten was pretty tough in those years. 2 of those seasons Magic and Kelser and Jay Vincent were wreaking havoc in EL.
