QB Commit Wilton Speight: Accepts Invitation to ESPN Under Armour All-American Game
According to the twitteresphere, Speight is going to be part of the under armour game this year.
This should calm some of the anxiety regarding him as a prospect, as an invite this early bodes pretty well for his skills and rankings (all of the participants were top 10 qbs last year). Congrats to him!

Nice Job Speight! Just remember that you can not pick a number that a walk-on wears. You might want to transfer. Oh, and we only recruit five star sugar daddy QB's and super stealthy undervalued recruits at Michigan. We trust our coaches, even though they can't call a very good game.

Please change your signature line to delete that quote. The irony is a bit overwhelming considering your post history taken as a whole.

Ever notice since ESPN has had recruiting pages for certain school that commits for those schools get invited to the UA game? Sure they are power house programs, but I feel like there are polotics behind who's invited.

Absolutely. It's a business. ESPN is looking out for its viewership/readership.

Hopefully his biggest highlight won't be this:

Ugh. I still cringe every time I see it, but to Shane's credit, he popped right back up.

One thing that's very encouraging is that he won't snap like a twig. The kid can definitely take a hit.

It was a great form tackle but I don't see it as a huge disabling hit... neither player was running even close to full speed and Morris saw him coming... I know 11 Warriors and RCMB made a huge deal out of it (for obvious reasons), but it was a great tackle and not more.

has built a net career earning millions of internet dollars looking at highlight film and being able to discern everything from motivation to and including throwing distance.

Or I have half a brain.
Feel free to check out this video, which shows that college seniors Joe Flacco, Chad Henne, Matt Ryan, Colt Brennan, and John David Booty threw the ball 74, 67, 62, 60, and 60 yards, respectively, on an ESPN broadcast.

But hey, it's always possible that a high school junior throws the ball farther than a Super Bowl-winning quarterback who's known for a rocket arm...

Nice. I was thinking Clarkson knows better than Magnus, but this video proves otherwise. Clarkson was exaggerating.

Yep. If you look at the Under Armour game roster, the vast majority of players are headed to USC, Florida, Georgia, Alabama, Michigan, Ohio State, etc. There are a couple from Fresno State or Hawaii, but the majority are headed to powerhouse schools. If Speight weren't committed or even if he had committed to Virginia or N.C. State, I doubt he would have the invitation right now.

I find it interesting that without playing a down of their Senior Year these guys are already selected to these games...what if they have a terrible senior year? Do they get yanked from the game and lose their invitation? Just seems WAAAY early for these selections.
Regardless, it's good to see a UM recruit get some attention...Congrats!

I guess they're afraid that other bowls might swoop in and grab them instead.
Shane Morris had a poor senior season, and he still kept his invitation to the game.

Yeah that's another good reason there should be a defined period for selection...the bowls get "stuck" with underperforming or potentially unavailable (r.e. injured or in Shane's case sick) players.
