Michael Ferns and #Project135
The colors look a little off because of my camera, trust me when they’re right on #Project135pic.twitter.com/XqTbunVh

Great idea! As a high school junior, I was more concerned about fart competitions with my teammates on the bus.
Ferns has "it".
February 15th, 2013 at 7:08 PM ^
Well, were you losing the fart competitions? If so, that's unacceptable.
February 15th, 2013 at 7:18 PM ^
I passed out. Not sure who won.
February 15th, 2013 at 7:21 PM ^
If you passed out trying you should get some kind of runner up medal, at least.
February 15th, 2013 at 7:31 PM ^
you passed out before you shit your pants?
February 15th, 2013 at 7:49 PM ^
He never said that
February 15th, 2013 at 7:05 PM ^
Sweet!
February 15th, 2013 at 7:05 PM ^
That's some initiative right there.
February 15th, 2013 at 7:06 PM ^
This is...pretty damn sweet.
February 15th, 2013 at 7:06 PM ^
I would rather have a medical red shirt for Devin, but a t-shirt is cool.
February 15th, 2013 at 7:06 PM ^
Social Media can be really awesome every so often.
February 15th, 2013 at 7:06 PM ^
So... I thought you had to be licensed by the NCAA and/or the university to use the M logos?
February 15th, 2013 at 7:12 PM ^
He should be fine
February 15th, 2013 at 7:46 PM ^
since i just went through this myself in designing a shirt recently, might be worth pointing out to anyone unsure that the block M is a registered trademark of the university. this of course means there are some details that must be adhered to when it comes to using the design legally.
i suppose not selling them negates some of the concern, but given the high profile nature of the shirts amongst the recruits, it is possible that young mr ferns might get a gentle conversation directed his way on the correct usage of copyrighted material from the powers that be.
other than, cool idea for the commits.
February 15th, 2013 at 7:51 PM ^
hit me up at [email protected], please
February 15th, 2013 at 8:00 PM ^
I'm sure it's interesting for some people. Also, Ferns may have gotten clearance from M through Hoke.
February 16th, 2013 at 2:34 PM ^
i suppose the simplest advice is to be sure to used a U-M licensed vendor, there is a lengthy list of approved vendors. Each of them know all the little details of what can and cant be done. (as i said initially, a lot of little things, such as the block M can't be altered in anyway, even things such as a width of an outline are strictly enforced, the circle R (®) must appear, etc etc).
i'm not trying to lay claim to being an expert on the topic by any means...
February 15th, 2013 at 8:46 PM ^
I made some shirts through Underground Printing for my lab back at Michigan & they added the little (TM) so tiny you can barely see it next to the Michigan logo. They said it was required.
Here at Wisconsin I recently designed some shirts for one of the surgical departments on customink.com - I wasn't the one who inquired, but one of us did check to see if we needed to include that next to the motion W, & nobody told us we had to. So we didn't.
So yea, I dunno. Way to be super helpful, Wisconsin Wolverine.
**Pats self on back.**
February 15th, 2013 at 9:14 PM ^
If he does...he's got bigger problems than a letter from UofM saying that he can't use the logo.
His amatuerism will be in question. If he's selling these, some booster could give him $10,000 for a t-shirt. #SECissues.
February 15th, 2013 at 7:07 PM ^
Dude should major in marketing.
February 15th, 2013 at 7:40 PM ^
I heard a rumor from Urban that Michigan athletes don't major in real things, so marketing would not be a choice for him.
February 15th, 2013 at 10:00 PM ^
Haven't you ever been to college? Marketing is not a real thing
February 16th, 2013 at 9:17 AM ^
You must still be in college
February 16th, 2013 at 9:48 AM ^
Says the guy with "Peggy" in his avatar.
February 15th, 2013 at 7:08 PM ^
I count 5 packaged shirts. We have 3 commits.
?
February 15th, 2013 at 7:16 PM ^
Per his feed, two are for members of the media.
February 15th, 2013 at 7:24 PM ^
Otherwise he is mailing 1 to himself
February 15th, 2013 at 8:17 PM ^
Well, everyone loves getting mail.
February 15th, 2013 at 7:10 PM ^
Who's paying for all of these T-Shirts??
February 15th, 2013 at 7:37 PM ^
T-shirts aren't expensive to make, and definitely not more money than you can reasonably expect a high school junior to have.
February 15th, 2013 at 7:54 PM ^
Call me stupid... But how many commits do we get in a class? Ya, ya... I'm an idiot for not knowing that, yada yada yada... Just an answer please and Thank You
February 15th, 2013 at 8:22 PM ^
You can get up to 28 in a class in the B1G (25 + up to three early enrollees put in the class before if that class wasn't full) and up to 85 total. We'll have 16 spots to get to 85 from seniors leaving plus a spot for anyone who leaves the team. So maybe around or a little over 20 can be expected this year, depending on how many leave the team.
February 15th, 2013 at 7:10 PM ^
Love this kid! Gotta love the way he's out there recruiting hard for Team #135. Interested to see how this all develops and what sort of effect it has. Hopefully very positive
February 15th, 2013 at 7:11 PM ^
I hope this isn't some NCAA violation.
February 15th, 2013 at 7:15 PM ^
I agree. As long as Ferns pays for the shirts himself, he can basically do anything he wants. However, if players currently on the tream try to get involved, thats where it can get hairy.
I trust our coaching staff is all over this, and Ferns has been updated on what is and isn't allowed.
February 16th, 2013 at 8:16 AM ^
I was thinking the same thing. But if he isn't officially committed and paying for these shirts himself, how can the NCAA possibly find against Michigan?
February 16th, 2013 at 10:07 AM ^
Give them time, I'm sure they'll come up with something.
February 15th, 2013 at 7:12 PM ^
Buckle up
February 15th, 2013 at 7:13 PM ^
Not what i was expecting with woodson being release but thats cool. Great idea. Great kid
February 15th, 2013 at 7:13 PM ^
The enthusiasm of recent recruits for the program is really encouraging. Some may view this as a letdown from eg a commit, but this sort of thing tells me Hoke and co will prob have some serious staying power if they keep on this path
February 15th, 2013 at 7:14 PM ^
Awesome! Great work, you are da man!
February 15th, 2013 at 7:14 PM ^
So no Nike? No commits?.....sad panda
February 15th, 2013 at 8:00 PM ^
The point of this idea though is to snag some potential recruits up that were maybe wishy washy and helps commits STAY. Cheer up
February 15th, 2013 at 8:00 PM ^
Will make our team better by bringing them closer and bonding more.
February 15th, 2013 at 8:12 PM ^
"Ladies and gentlemen, here to announce our new $100 million partnership with Nike is a 16-year-old who plans to enroll in a couple of years. Please don't consult the NCAA rule book or your own common sense right now."
February 15th, 2013 at 7:15 PM ^
That's pretty fucking cool
February 15th, 2013 at 7:19 PM ^
Has any recruit done this before for any school? This is pretty cool. I think it's a great idea ... I'm glad he's getting it done early as well.
I want that shirt.
February 15th, 2013 at 9:34 PM ^
I hope you're not hoping for a blue one. 'cause we don't get to have those, apparently.
