I bet nothing big tonight except probably Murrell will be taken to the prison which will cause drama and the Governor starts to plan his assault.

Definitely excited. Been watching the marathons yesterday and today.
This morning I watched the season 2 mid-season finale where Sophia came out of the barn. That goes right up there with some of the best endings on TV of the past few years.
February 10th, 2013 at 7:19 PM ^
I called pretty soon after she went missing. Certainly one of my prouder television watching moments.
That scene was incredible but the rest of season 2 was awful.
February 10th, 2013 at 7:25 PM ^
I was completely blindsided by it - and glad I was. I had assumed that she was dead long before that episode.
The whole scene was gut wrenching and brutal. And then when Sophia walked out my jaw literally dropped and my stomach turned. It was quite the ending.
Similar endings that come to mind are this years Breaking Bad where Todd shoots the kid and the Season 4 finale of Dexter.
I just speed watched the rest of season 2 - it's actually amazing how much you can fast forward through without losing any of the gist. The finale was good and the penultimate episode was good, but the four inbetween were pretty, pretty, pretty drawn out.
February 10th, 2013 at 8:16 PM ^
Ha! Should've read your reply before I posted, looks like we had the exact same reaction.
February 10th, 2013 at 8:14 PM ^
When Sophia came out of the barn I audibly gasped and my jaw literally dropped. It truly shocked me, didn't see that one coming at all.
To me, that's the craziest, most impactful plot twist there's been on TV since LOST.
February 11th, 2013 at 12:14 AM ^
totally make up for some of the lesser episodes. But to comment on your post, I agree that I was completely shocked. Initially I was very dissapointed that the season was comprised of a barn and occasional ventures out to search for a girl who the audience had no real connection to. HOWEVER, finding her in the barn (this may sound cynical) was the best thing that could have happened from a viewers perspective. Would have been way too corny to find her after 12 episodes, The Walking Dead is far from disney.
February 10th, 2013 at 5:36 PM ^
I expect a lot more commercials this season. Its hard to watch when they cut to a commercial every 5 minutes.
February 10th, 2013 at 5:37 PM ^
I expect zombies. And hopefully Carl does. I hate that kid
February 10th, 2013 at 5:38 PM ^
I hope Carl dies.
February 10th, 2013 at 5:40 PM ^
I'm liking him more now that he has bloodlust. I still wouldn't be upset if he got eaten though.
February 10th, 2013 at 5:46 PM ^
Read the comics if you have a chance, your entire perception of Carl will change.
February 10th, 2013 at 5:59 PM ^
He's in over his head with Nagen.
February 11th, 2013 at 5:39 AM ^
So sweet when he pops out of the back of the truck. Ugh I hate that the comics are so far ahead. I really dislike waiting for stuff to happen to talk about ut
February 10th, 2013 at 6:32 PM ^
Carl knew he was going to die soon so he wanted to think of the dumbest name he could give his sister, and he came up with Judith.
February 10th, 2013 at 6:38 PM ^
Was there more to that name? It just seemed so random and stupid. My teacher's name was Judith, let's go with that? Strange. I always assumed there was a story behind it that maybe was clear in the comics or something.
February 10th, 2013 at 7:41 PM ^
He was sleeping with his teacher that's why.

February 10th, 2013 at 7:00 PM ^
Carl is a badass now. I want Carl to start saying stuff from Pulp Fiction. "Say what again."
February 10th, 2013 at 5:39 PM ^
Now that Whori (as they affectionately call her over on IMDB) is gone, every episode is my favorite episode.
February 10th, 2013 at 5:53 PM ^
Hahaha I was so happy when she died. I wish it were better though, I like how it happened in the comics. So excited for tonight but Andrea is starting to piss me off.
February 10th, 2013 at 5:56 PM ^
But I think she has a trick or two up her sleeve. I have a feeling she will be instrumental in the Governor's downfall.
February 10th, 2013 at 5:54 PM ^
I'm pretty excited to watch the episodes in Black and White starting on Thursday.
I don't know if any other show has done that since - you know - everything was in black and white.
February 10th, 2013 at 5:58 PM ^
I will destroy shit if Mershonne dies.
February 10th, 2013 at 5:59 PM ^
Or Daryl.
February 10th, 2013 at 6:05 PM ^
He's a fan favorite I doubt it.
February 10th, 2013 at 6:17 PM ^
My favorite character hands down.
February 10th, 2013 at 6:21 PM ^
Did Merle and Michonne have a baby and I didn't hear about it?
February 10th, 2013 at 6:25 PM ^
Ya except his half arm is also have katana?!?!?
February 10th, 2013 at 5:59 PM ^
Great thanks for the reminder. There is going to be more human to human killing and that is going to be disturbing. I hope that they do not take it to far from the zombies.
February 10th, 2013 at 6:09 PM ^
Without giving anything away, I have a question for the comic readers.
I've read that the series deviates significantly from the comics. Could you put a % on it?
For someone that has not read any of the comics, would you suggest me going ahead and giving them a shot or let the series runs its course and then go back?
This summer I read A Game of Thrones and have started A Clash of Kings, but I had a friend recommend to me that I should just watch the series and then catch up on the books. The more I read, the more I'm thinking that might be a good idea.
February 10th, 2013 at 6:17 PM ^
There aren't significant deviations, but there are plenty of differences in the way/how soon characters die. Along with the inclusion of some characters that don't even exist in the comic plot line (Darryl and Merle.)
I believe Amazon has the 2 compendiums fairly cheap if you do wish to learn things ahead of the show, I'd certainly recommend it if you wish to invest. And trust me, they aren't long reads: pictures, pictures, captions, pictures, rinse and repeat.
February 10th, 2013 at 6:25 PM ^
(Yes, really cheap and great per issue value on Amazon) but I'd say the overall arcs are following the books, but what happens to the characters and how they're introduced doesn't very much at all. So they may go from camp to farm to prison to Govenor, but what happens to everyone is straying pretty far away.
And no matter how much you think they get away with in the tv show, they get away with a LOT more in te comic.
February 10th, 2013 at 6:36 PM ^
Read the comics for sure. They're rather gory and might turn you away, rape and other explicit parts. It isn't easy to put a % but it seems as though the narratives are diverging. If you watch Game of Thrones I doubt you will end up reading the books, they're very similar and I cannot get past Martin's writing.
February 11th, 2013 at 5:47 AM ^
I am up to date on both and although they are similar they are different. The main plot is the same but some if the sub plots are different/ non existent in one. Worth the read but I suggest waiting until this season is over. Read them during the "off season".
February 10th, 2013 at 6:59 PM ^
Yes I missed these threads because the first half of the season during No OT. ( Because it was football season)
Very excited for tonight. Haven't read the comics but thinking about startng them. Hope my boy Daryl makes it out ok. Pretty sure he does from what I saw from the preview for the season.(Favorite part of the series is when he nicknamed the baby little asskicker)
I also can't wait for the prison group to meet up with the govenors group. Should be pretty awesome. The first half of season 3 was my favorite season of any show. Hope they keep going off the momentum even with e.p. Glen Mazarra gone.
February 10th, 2013 at 7:01 PM ^
I'm shocked AMC and Glen parted ways.
February 10th, 2013 at 7:05 PM ^
Yeah I would be curious to hear the reasons he was shown the door.
February 10th, 2013 at 7:08 PM ^
I would be shocked if it were anything other than cash. AMC has already cut the per episode budget and removed 2 minutes from the show to air more commercials.
February 10th, 2013 at 7:11 PM ^
While that is annoying, I wonder if it is a trade-off for keeping the episode # low and not turning it into a pure cash cow ala The X-Files and LOST. If that's the reasoning, then I can play along.
February 10th, 2013 at 7:59 PM ^
I miss Lost though.
February 10th, 2013 at 10:21 PM ^
I think Matthew Weiner demanded more money to shoot Mad Men. I remember hearing that AMC had to lower budgets on other shows to pay for Mad Men.
February 10th, 2013 at 8:23 PM ^
It was creative differences between him and Kirkman. Whether that's good or bad for the show I don't know.
I did read recently that Glen was willing to kill off Rick, so I don't know if that was a big point of contention with Kirkman or not. But whatever it was it was a power struggle Kirkman won.
February 10th, 2013 at 8:28 PM ^
Just imagine if Darabont was still on, the season 2 premiere would have been legendary.

February 10th, 2013 at 8:52 PM ^
That just broke my heart. The idea of origin/standalone/perspective episodes would have been a nice break and contrast to what felt like an entire season of looking for Sophia -___-
February 10th, 2013 at 8:54 PM ^
Honestly though. What the fuck were they thinking? Season 2 was such a bust until Glen came in.
February 10th, 2013 at 8:52 PM ^
That would have been a cool episode
February 10th, 2013 at 11:47 PM ^
Dang never knew that! Wish Darabont would have stayed on, that would have made a really cool episode. Thanks for the link.
February 10th, 2013 at 7:03 PM ^
I think T-Dog is gonna come back as a zombie.
