"Everybody in the country was recruitin' the kid, and I think what happened in the long run -- and he'll tell you this -- what I sold Derrick on more than anything else was my ability to make him better -- take him somewhere where he can't take himself," - Fred Jackson, quoted in the article

Fred Jackson is probably in select company among RB coaches when it comes to being able to stake his resume on getting elite recruits like Green, but it is a definite strength if you can sell a recruit (or anyone really) on you personally as well as the program. This is something Jackson and the entire staff do extremely well, making it not just about Michigan but the people who facilitate the program. It was also kind of intriguing to read that among those who vouched for Jackson was one Eddie George.

The Fred Jackson quote generator would sell huge in corporate america. Imagine if you hit a button on your desk and Fred would say "You're like Bill Gates, only smarter." Huge boon to office productivity!

Even displays his usual complimentary nature when talking about himself. Awesome.

Kid, I am like mike ditka, only thinner and mote focused on rung backs. I am like Vince lombardi only alive.

I just wanted to be certain that I wasn't the only one thinking that.

Before I even finished the story, I was thinking, "Fred Jackson is doing a Fred Jackson on Fred Jackson!"  How fantastic is that?  It's like an acid trip, with Kate Upton.  But better than that, because it is like a beautiful dream, of being on an acid trip, with Kate Upton.

Fred had better be careful.  Recruting power like that, could rip a hole in the space-time continuum.

Nice to hear about Fred Jackson kicking ass on the recruiting trail. I love his confident approach that stops short of arrogance. With all the fun we have with his hyperbole, I sometimes forget what a great recruiter he is.

I really don't care about the picture or the downvoting.  But I did find your sarcastic "gee wilikers" remark annoying because it seemed to imply that my original comment was sincere rather than intended as a joke.  I thought it was blatantly obvious that Hoke didn't really cry and beg Green to come here and that my comment would be interpreted as a joke.  Poeple that treat jokes literally are infuriating.

"One notable person on that list: Former Ohio State tailback Eddie George, whose vouching for Jackson helped lure Green to the Buckeyes' fiercest rival."

George better hope this doesn't get wide circulation in the Buckeye circles or he'll be a marked man.

a 5* recruit is the heightened sense of competition for the current guys.

Rawls, Fitz & co are surely working a little harder at S&C - they know Green has the ability to immediately take away carries.

when you consider that Eddie George actually works for OSU now and helps Urban Meyer recruit.

I am sure Urban loves seeing in print that Eddie gave Freddy a thumbs up.
