Sunday Afternoon Basketball Open Thread

Didn't see this up yet, so I figured I would take the initiative. Top 25 Matchups are

  1. 25 Miami v. FSU
  2. 7 IU v. 13 MSU
  3. 17 Creighton v SIU

and obviously us later at 6:00

Obviously, the IU MSU game has the most effect on us, but other games of note include Iowa v. Purdue, and possibly Rutgers v. UConn.

Not getting the announcers on my CBS live feed.  While ordinarily that's a good thing it's kinda annoying in this game where neither team has names on the back of their uniforms.

So who are we rooting for in this game other than the asteroid?

Good game so far. Hard to know who would be better or us to win this game. Do think it is likelier for us to sweep the Spartans as opposed to Indiana.

Playing in Assembly Hall is tough unless you're Wisconsin.

Edit: not that Breslin is easy just easier than Assembly Hall

Thoughts on Indiana vs little bro, nike makes terrible uniforms. I accept the weird color scheme but the simplicity of the design and the team name on the back make the uniforms look very pre school like.

As a Miami (YTM) fan, Miami is not really a threat for a #1 seed. They are a very streaky team and will unfortunately lose a couple of games they shouldn't during the year. They already lost to freaking Florida Gulf Coast.... Florida Gulf Coast!

I am biased, but I think it will be better for Michigan if Miami wins the ACC instead of Duke.

It's important for IU to win. An MSU road win would be huge for them in terms of winning the conference. That said, Yogi just took about 5 steps on his layup. I also noticed he picks up his pivot foot too soon on most of his drives from the top of the key but he's never called for traveling.

Also Payne is having much more of an impact than Zeller. Think Zeller is a good player but he is probably overrated at least to this point and not just based on this half's performance thus far.

Watford can be just garbage sometimes, he has the basketball IQ of Javale McGee. State is playing some good basketball and these teams are almost outscoring Minny-Wisconsin from yesterday.

Entertaining 1st half but Indiana should be pissed they're not leading by double-digits.  They made a ton of unforced errors that their 10 turnover tally doesn't even begin to describe.

Also, yeah - without checking the box score, it seems like Zeller's been a nonfactor.  To use Hokespeak, I haven't 'felt' him

IU can shoot the lights out, but their D is not impressing me, especially inside.  This is the same Sparty team that scored 49 against Wisconsin and was in the 60's against PSU and Nebraska.
