Tangential relation to college football?
Former LSU fullback Shawn Jordan, member of their 2007 BCS National Championship team will be fighting Mike Russow in a heavyweight bout.
-----------------
Anything University of Michigan related?
Not this card. However, plenty of former Big Ten wrestlers and Big Ten wrestling champions have made (or are presently making) their mark on the UFC.
Most notably being Brock Lesnar (Minnesota-retired), Mark Coleman (Ohio State-retired), Kevin Randleman (Ohio State-retired) Rashad Evans (MSU), Gray Maynard (MSU), Phil Davis (Penn State), Matt Mitrione (Purdue-football), etc...
So the Big Ten is well represented at the top levels of the sport.
So enjoy that.

I'm looking forward to the Rampage and Glover fight.Rampage hasn't been good in years and this could be his last fight in The UFC.
January 26th, 2013 at 5:34 PM ^
Rampage hasn't looked like "Rampage" since the Wand fight at the tail end of 2008, IMO.
He says he is in the "best shape of his life," but fighters always say that. Then again, he might want to up his stock as much as possible for all of the potential suitors out there, and beating a top prospect like Glover will certainly do that.
I'll be interested to see where Rampage's career goes from here. Is this all a smoke and mirrors game with the UFC? Will he go to Bellator to face some legitimate, albeit inferior, competition? Or will he end his career fighting cans in Japan?
With the dissolution of Strikeforce, there really aren't many top level LHWs outside of the UFC anymore.
January 26th, 2013 at 5:34 PM ^
This is his last fight on his contract. He will not be back in the UFC
January 26th, 2013 at 5:24 PM ^
Better than spending $55
and I can drink my own beer.
January 26th, 2013 at 5:29 PM ^
It's an extremely stacked free card. Hopefully the UFC continues to put their best foot forward on free TV.
January 26th, 2013 at 6:02 PM ^
The Pay Per View model is limiting in terms of their exposure and long term viability of their business in terms of expansion. On the other hand, regular network exposure (which they are starting to implement since their deal with FOX) enables longer term discussions with networks regarding rights fees for programming sold which could ultimately drawf Pay Per View revenues.
Bob Arum, Don King and Golden Boy have never really figured this out with boxing and we see the net results of that today (a few big PPV cards and periodic content on HBO or Showtime). Few could name any of the current boxing champions...beyond Mayweather or Klitschko.
If Dana White and the Fertitta's are smart they will increase their partnership with network TV and establish their version of the "fight game". Well below even NHL rights money would dwarf their current revenue streams.

Looking forward to seeing him get his ass kick. Confidence is one thing, but this kid is just a clown.
January 26th, 2013 at 5:33 PM ^
Rampage claims to be in the best shape of his life but I don't seem him getting past Glover.
Cowboy/Pettis has the makings to be FOTY
Johnson/Dodson will go all 5 rounds
January 26th, 2013 at 5:44 PM ^
I like watching the UFC even more when it's free. I'll be DVR'ing this. It seems like the cards that UFC is putting on Fox are getting better. Let's hope the trend continues.
January 26th, 2013 at 5:51 PM ^
Isn't Dodson the little bastard from TUF that never shut up. I remember him handing most guys but always wanted to see someone drop him one time
January 26th, 2013 at 5:52 PM ^
I just tuned into the prelims. Has Guida fought yet?
January 26th, 2013 at 5:56 PM ^
Nope. I think there are 2 fights before Guida.
January 26th, 2013 at 6:02 PM ^
Sweet Clay used to be my favorite fighter. I haven't followed mma very much this past year but looking forward to seeing him fight for free from my own living room.
January 26th, 2013 at 7:02 PM ^
Guida is rocking an all time great 'stache.
January 26th, 2013 at 7:05 PM ^
I think he has been taking lessons from Tom Selleck.
January 26th, 2013 at 6:10 PM ^
Bader took care of business.
January 26th, 2013 at 6:16 PM ^
Impressive: fastest submission for his division.
January 26th, 2013 at 6:11 PM ^
Bader??? If someone gave me that nickname I'd give it back.
January 26th, 2013 at 6:25 PM ^
I guess we got a Matyushenko fan lurking.
January 26th, 2013 at 6:29 PM ^
After that fight.
January 26th, 2013 at 6:33 PM ^
Should cut his hair if he has to run his hand through it every few seconds
January 26th, 2013 at 6:36 PM ^
Nice front kick to the grill
January 26th, 2013 at 6:43 PM ^
Krauss needs to back up from the fence and just beat his ass! His dirty boxing is good but it seems like he is doing more damage outside the clinch.
January 26th, 2013 at 6:45 PM ^
Is taking a beating
January 26th, 2013 at 6:47 PM ^
He has gone to lay and pray!
January 26th, 2013 at 7:10 PM ^
Who is the 80's porn star fighting for Guida tonight??
January 26th, 2013 at 7:15 PM ^
Is nicely cultivated though
January 26th, 2013 at 7:16 PM ^
It doesn't look like cutting those 10 extra pounds has taken anything out of Guida. He looks good in his featherweight debut.
January 26th, 2013 at 7:18 PM ^
For cowboy's fight with pettis. Also, glover texiera is supposed to be the truth according to the "experts" from the brazil fight scene'
January 26th, 2013 at 7:36 PM ^
Walking out to Paramore? A bold choice, sir.
And TJ Grant comes out to White Snake.
Wow, this is going to be a hell of a fight.
January 26th, 2013 at 7:38 PM ^
Wiman
January 26th, 2013 at 7:45 PM ^
What an elbow
January 26th, 2013 at 8:29 PM ^
I thought he would perform better. You are not alone
January 26th, 2013 at 7:36 PM ^
Wants his entrance music back
January 26th, 2013 at 8:11 PM ^
Hey ghost of yost and the lasthoke, could you both kindly piss off?
January 26th, 2013 at 8:12 PM ^
Absolutely.
January 26th, 2013 at 8:15 PM ^
Here we go, as Goldie says.
The main card on FOX is live.
January 26th, 2013 at 8:26 PM ^
That was nasty
January 26th, 2013 at 8:27 PM ^
Koch wants that title shot back.
January 26th, 2013 at 8:30 PM ^
He probably wants the two quarts of blood and his vision back too.
January 26th, 2013 at 8:37 PM ^
No kidding. Lamas is a beast.
You have to feel bad for Koch though. The guy had a title shot, then he gets hurt. However, he gets a stroke of luck when the champ gets hurt as well, but by that time it was too late as Frankie Edgar had already stepped in to fill his place.
January 26th, 2013 at 8:38 PM ^
Early potential fight of the year right here.
January 26th, 2013 at 8:38 PM ^
Who you got in this one?
January 26th, 2013 at 8:39 PM ^
Showtime, but I love both guys. They're both exciting. I just think Pettis' stand up is superior.
January 26th, 2013 at 8:41 PM ^
Yeah me too.
January 26th, 2013 at 8:42 PM ^
And we would both be correct.
Beautiful KO by Pettis. He even tried to do a little "showtime" off the cage.
January 26th, 2013 at 8:44 PM ^
That kid is quick. He will have a belt in the future. Hated to see the Cowboy go down though.
January 26th, 2013 at 8:48 PM ^
Yeah, it's looking more and more like he's on a collision course with Bendo. Bendo of courrse still has to get through Gil, but I think everyone wants to see a rematch of their last WEC title fight.
January 26th, 2013 at 8:42 PM ^
It's Showtime!
January 26th, 2013 at 8:42 PM ^
Cowboy goes down.
