[Confirmed:] Henry Poggi an official visitor to Bama this weekend

Submitted by bassmaster on

According to 247 & Rivals (paywalled). Of course, the story for the last few weeks has been Poggi visiting Bama - but only to see his friend in Tuscaloosa. Now it appears this will be an official visit and Nick Saban is expecting him. Not good, IMO.

My personal opinion, Poggi and his dad were using the "visiting a friend" angle to run interference with the actual visit. If he was really visiting his friend, why couldn't it just wait until afer NSD?

...commence panic.

Mod edit: Changed title since it seems this doesn't come from Poggi or anyone who can speak for him. JGB.

Edit two: Changed the title again since it sounds like the visit was confirmed.

This thread was totally worth it for the "jerkstore" and "don't tell him to tell me what to do" exchanges....

I love how we are like a dysfunctional family!!  ("He did it!" "He made me cry")

I heard that Derrick Green was visiting Sam's Club this weekend? Is that an indicator that he is applying for a job there instead of enrolling into college and playing Division 1 football? One can only speculate....

but I'll be somewhat surprised if we don't have at least one decommit by signing day, and one surprise commit that's not on our radar right now.

And nobody should ever panic about recruiting.

Didn't he say at one point that a big factor in his choosing Michigan was the quality of education? Or at the very least, that was from his parents?

If so, I'm not sure why Alabama would even be on the table for him.

I know that's a big selling point, but if I remember correctly, I thought education was really important to him. With respect to Alabama, the education standards between our two schools don't even remotely compare.

Of course, a 17 year old kid's priorities can change drastically any minute, and Nick Saban is Lord of All That Is College Football. But if Poggi goes to Alabama, his desire to play in the NFL outweighs his desire for a quality education. But that's his choice.

The title on this thread needs to have [Debunked, AGAIN] added to it.  Unless it can have [quit posting this bullshit over and over and over] added to it.

Henry Poggi: Spoke to Baltimore-Gilman school source...

Poggi and his father left an hour or so ago headed to Tuscaloosa for an official visit.

The 6-4, 260-pound Poggi, who is committed to Michigan, is a versatile prospect with the ability to play defensive end, tight end or possibly even center or guard. According to Poggi's father, Gilman head coach Henry Poggi Sr, the Alabama staff has also mentioned interest in Poggi as a Jack linebacker.
