Michigan to play osu in BTCG

Submitted by THE_KNOWLEDGE on

This year, the Michigan football team will play O$U twice - once during the annual regular season finale and the following week in the Big Ten Championship Game

.

this is not a great revelation, because most people expect this to happen

.

yes

.

the good news is that this will be the first and last time Michigan will play O$U twice in a year as the upcoming division realignments will put the teams in the same division

.

the reason for the realignment is part of why THE KNOWLEDGE has referred to ohio state as O$U in this post

.

THE KNOWLEDGE always refrains from such sophomoric behavior (THE KNOWLEDGE always refers to that school as osu), but the circumstances in columbus have changed over the last year, and are poised for even more drastic changes, to warrant the use of the dollar sign

.

soon after Meyer took over, he and Gene Smith have been developing the best possible way to cheat the NCAA and not get caught. in their mind, it is: (1) the continuation of their grand tradition of winning without integrity, and (2) a great revenge on the NCAA for daring to take some action against them, even though the punishment was absolutely not commensurate with the extreme magnitude of the original crime (a 10 year postseason ban and 100 scholarships reduction over 10 years would have been a more just punishment)

.

according to this plan, covert payments for recruits has already started, and a yearly stipend for the players has been instituted under great secrecy. the stipend is directly related to on-field performance on a weekly basis. this scheme is so novel that the NFL may jump at it if they understood the details

.

more money is on the way. THE KNOWLEDGE has mentioned earlier on these very pages that tressel will soon be hired in columbus to take care of recruit signing bonuses

.

yes

.

even with these plans, they are still worried that Hoke and co in Ann Arbor may be a formidable ally. hence, the other part of the plan is to influence the B1G to make things easier for O$U - such as not playing Michigan twice a year

.

thus, the great desire on Smith's part for both teams to be in the same division, whereas Brandon is somewhat less enthused

.

while Brandon is more concerned about making money for the AD, Smith is keen on distributing as much money as covertly possible to players, recruits, and some well positioned B1G officials to make winning football games easier for them

.

yes

.

THE KNOWLEDGE will provide reviews of the NCAA basketball tournament shortly, and will be discussing the 2013 Michigan football season results in the summer

The Knowledge was either chemically altered or under threat when he made this pronouncement I'll not worry about Hoke and Co. becoming a "formidable ally" to ohio.

I'll always upvote THE_KNOWLEDGE.  The Board needs more interesting regulars like him/her/it.  Anyone can post intelligent, thought-provoking content.  But it takes a special MGoMember to be able to forsee the future!

While I love the optimistic approach to the knowledge and his predictions, his track record hasn't exactly warranted enough success for me to back him up.

I do think Michigan has a great chance at winning the big ten next year but my biggest worry is that we will defeat ohio at home only to lose the following week and end up in the capital one bowl. I sincerely hope I'm wrong and the knowledge is correct.

Interesting post THE KNOWLEDGE. I had to reread some of your previous works before I commented  and made a fair assessment. Your previous blogs are packed with information that fits the topic of discussion but this one is the furthest thing from the title you discuss and is more satire and comical with a huge hint of arrogance. Allow me to explain...

1. According to Brian's blog post in regards to the use of $ for OSU here is his thoughts.

"Don't be redundant. Don't use stupid nicknames like O$U. Spell things correctly. Don't post useless replies like "I agree" and whatnot."

I don't think the dollar sign symbol ($) is appropriate, so for that reason I downvoted your blog post. I normally try not to do so unless its something I disagree with from a neutral point of view and I think "O$U" warranted it.

2. I don't think anyone should jump the gun to say that OSU and Michigan will play twice in Indy. This year results from both teams are a misleading harbinger and can easily derail fair judgement for why both teams will meet again and why other teams can't get there. OSU is not invincible and can certainly lose given our defensive line is gone. Michigan may not have all the playmakers they need to get clutch victories they need. Moreover, what about the other teams in the conference. Going to Penn State is certainly no easy trip, playing Nebraska  will be tough given their QB is returning and their defense will be out to avenege last year defensive performance, OSU has struggled to beat Purdue at home in its last two tries and Northwestern will certainly be a tough out for both teams. There are several places where both teams can fall so the forecast for buying early tickets to Indy is cloudly. For both fanbases, OSU and Michigan, no one should pencil in anything since both teams haven't been there yet. Lastly, its this exact smug, arrogant and elitist attitude that makes the other teams hate the Big 2. Respect your conference affliates.

3. So division realingment = O$U? Under what pretense do you find this conclusive to make such a decision? The two are mutually exclusive and even then, there are more approprite reasons to use O$U than division realingment.

4. Soon after Meyer took over... Yeah, Flamebait material

5. Jim Tressel will be rehired to take care of the recruit signing bonus. Would you care to back this up with factual evidence or explain how this is so. OSU is done with Tressel and I'm sure we don't need the NCAA back circling around the school.  O wait I know how you're getting your information for this blog, I think its the magic 8 ball you are looking into. While you are looking into it, could you tell me the pick 5 lotto numbers for 1/25/2013 so I can play them. If you can see that Tressel is coming back in the future, I'm sure you can help make me richer in a few days.

6. Hoke and co an ally? In what...

7.  You claim that if OSU plays Michigan once it will make things easier for OSU and back it up by what Gene and Brandon desires are. Did it occur to you that it might make things easier for Michigan as well?  Brandon said he wouldn't be oppose to it if it was in the best intrest of the conference. Is OSU and Michigan not being in the same division not in the best intrest of the conference? If you look at the topic Smith Leaning toward Michigan and Ohio State in the same division, you will see fans, from a Michigan perspective agree both teams should be. I'm sure if you fish around Buckyville, Gopherhole, Illinoisloyal, Huskerboard and Elevenwarriors you will find the same feelings resonating with thier fan bases. But don't worry, you can point the finger at the Buckeyes if that makes you happy. Ready, Aim, Point!

8. As for your last comment about money distribution I'll just leave that as flamebait material again.

Certainly by reading your other post you are well respected and I like what you write but this blog came off as arrogant, demeaning and one-sided. I usually take things with a grain of salt and don't mind Ohio jokes but when you overlook your opponents it makes getting back in touch with reality awefully difficult after you lose. Just ask Florida fans who were arrogant and thought Lousiville wasn't worthy to be on the same field as them. For someone who claims to be so omniscient and knowing, "THE KNOWLEDGE", this blog was rife with holes in your argument to establish veracity for an insightful post making it uninformed and onesided to discuss why Michigan will play OSU in the BTCG. One blog can't belie the other blogs you have but I hope future ones are well thoughtout and live up to the name, "THE KNOWLEDGE". Take no offense reading my comments with a grain of salt but this is just my thoughts and conclusions on this blog!
