OT Tigers September 4 2009

Great pitching match up this evening. DET: Verlander (15-7) 3.38 ERA, TAM: Niemann (12-5) 3.80 ERA. I will not be surprised if the Twins gain ground on the Tigers this Labor Day weekend. Tampa is almost as good at home as the Tigers and the Twins are playing the Indians. At least the Twins are not at home. Go Tribe, you are due for some wins.

to give up. That's 32 of 33 saves. Oh, big fucking hairy deal. He had a hard time with that one. That's once every month he gets into "serious" trouble. I don't care if I get negged for this, but I'm getting sick and tired of your attitude towards Rodney when he's been fabulous all season. Neg as appropriate, but I'm standing up for my closer. See you tomorrow, Sommy. Probably after you get angry at Tate at the first sign of trouble...

tigers get a feel good win and twins lose, pushing our lead to 6 games. with just 28 games left, 6 looks huge, but w/ so many games vs the twins and sux, its not as big as it'd otherwise be. verlander should be heading the cy young votes. but i think the national writers / voters are looking for a reason to give it to someone from NY or Boston, and failing that they'll give it to grienke. grienke maybe deserves it most, but i cant stand that sabathia gets more talk than verlander. and until he fell off, the becket talk was ever worse.

I don't really care about the individual awards. Give me a Division Title(to start) and I will be just fine. However this Miguel Cabrera guy is extremely good. I cannot think of a better Tiger hitter in my lifetime, Cabrera may turn out to be the best Tiger hitter since Hank Greenberg. Cabrera is a better hitter than Kaline in my 'umble opinion, and other than Kaline who else is even in his league as a hitter, in recent Tiger history? Great trade by Dombrowski to get Cabrera, so far Maybin and Miller have done little with the Marlins. Hard to quantify Miguel Cabrera's effect on this team, but I don't think we are in first without him. We have what? Another 6 or 7 years of Cabrera in the middle of this lineup to look forward to, great trade Dombrowski. Hitters like Cabrera are few and far between, the Tigers FINALLY got a bonafide stud hitter for the first time since maybe the 1940's! Am I forgetting anyone? I hope not cuz that would be a little embarrasing. The best is yet to come with young Miguel Cabrera. Go get em Tigers! Go Blue!
