Is there any news regarding the recruitment of Malik McDowell?

What's crackin' MGoBloggers.

I haven't been on the board much lately, and finally have some relaxation time here with the holiday weekend and the less than ideal weather outside in Ann Arbor.

I was wondering about a certain individual named Malik McDowell. About six months ago when I last took a look at recruiting, he seemed like a lock to commit to Michigan and would most likely do it before the end of 2012. When I first saw his video, I pegged him as a 5*, and this turned out to be the case. I just did an internet search, and was not really able to find any substantive information regarding his recruitment.

Is he still a Michigan lock? Is there any timeframe for his commitment? Has some slimy SEC team stepped in and made him reconsider?

Does anyone know the answers to these questions?

I'm sure after the Webb committed to OSU, they will make this kid an even bigger priority than he already was. I know they will still recruit both of them just as hard either way, because Hoke and co. know that top in-state talent needs to stay in-state, and out-of-State.

I don't know why so many people use the term lock. A lot of people were angry about Webb because they thought he was a lock when he was ever at most a lean.

I think most UM fans can go by this rule of thumb for Michigan recruits: lock is actually a lean, lean is 50/50, 50/50 is slight chance, slight chance means no chance.

You may not care to follow recruiting, which is reasonable and understandable, but you should care about recruiting as a necessary and important part of any program, because your statement is very false.

Recruiting has a ton to do with games. In fact, believe it or not, the players that play in the games are recruited. Talent is a huge factor in the game, and talent comes from recruiting.

Guy asks question and instead of an answer he gets 10 dickheads trying to be comedians with worthless responses.

You're all a bunch of dicks. The guys asks a question and the only response you can give is a bunch of smart ass answers. To quote Rodney Dangerfield, "WHO DIED AND MADE YOU POPE OF THIS DUMP?" This site is filled with holier than thou assholes.

You're new here. So I'll explain the problem in a minimally condescending way. Threads that provide no new information or insight I any kind are frowned upon. Threads that ask, "hey, you know that thing that would be widely noted around here if relevant information was available? Is any new information available about that thing?" are worse. Dickish comments are the appropriate response to a pointless thread. This is the Internet. There is no mercy to be had.

Yep. I actually didn't click this thread yesterday. Instead I waiting until today when it was full of good dickheaded comments.

This thread is like me calling my mom to ask if there's anything new with her coworker's kids who I've never met. If there was, be sure I'd already know about it.

I'm wondering if playing time is more an issue than in previous classes. PT was meme like for defensive recruiting. The depth chart is getting deeper...I'm wondering if there's less traction on this than in Hoke's initial years. Has anyone heard that this is an issue for Malik.
