Saturday Open All-Star Game and Drinking Thread

Submitted by MaizeMN on

Roy is playing in the Raycom and BWC in the Shrine. Also haven't seen an ODT yet today; let's kill two boards with one stone.

EDIT: Raycom is on CBS Sports and Shrine is on NFL Network.

I am enjoying the Raycom College Football All-Star Classic and a nice Cabernet as I prepare dinner here. Roasted chicken with asparagus and a potato medley. After that, more wine and some basketball, followed by the Red Wings game at 8 PM.

Some Rogue Dead Guy Ale for now, but I'll be having Upland in a little while with some Jager most likely mixed in. 3 day weekends in med school are a beautiful thing.

Way to go, Roy! Does anyone know when Senior Bowl practice starts?

And Go Blackhawks (by default)!

Pens beating Philly 2-1 7:00 to go in the 3rd.  Glad to see some hockey back in action (though I'm not a hockey fan like I am basketball and football, I do enjoy it).

Out eating and drinking earlier, had a Ayinger Celebrator, New Belgium Lips of Faith Tart Lychee, and Evil Twin Lil'B...a varitey leaving me with a buzz as I get home to watch more sports.

I live in Korea, 14 hours ahead of AA time.  These drinking threads just aren't the same when my answers are:

Small cup of orange juice and large mug of coffee.

Drinking a cup of kona coffee right now - my favorite.

Tonight the wife and I will be drinking some red diamond Cabernet to go with her homemade penne w/meat sauce and homemade apple pie. Yup, I have a wife that not only loves football, but who enjoys cooking and baking for fun.

Dan Dakich (color guy for ESPN) just busted Ted Valentine (referee) in the Sparty-Ohio game.  Valentine went to make some sort of sideline warning to the bench (something along those lines) but a stoppage of play occured.  Dakich says, and this is paraphrased, "ESPN primetime game, you know Teddy Valentine is going to make a call.  He's going to show himself to everyone".  I found this funny as hell.  Teddy V. is notorious for being a bit of a showman in his officiating and Dakich calling him on in is great.

Who do we have playing in the Collegiate Bowl? Is that Mealer playing RT? And is he wearing one of the matte helmets? Holding his own at tackle so far out there.

Edit: I meant RG.

Rolling Rock is NOT a Philly beer. It's maybe a Pittsburgh beer (Iron City notwitstanding), but certainly not Philly. Yuengling is the only mass-produced beer one can fairly associate with Philly, even though it's brewed in Pottsville. If you order a "lager" in the Delaware Valley, it's a Yuengling that you will receive. All that said, I hope you're enjoying time in my hometown. Try Steve's Prince of Steaks on Bustleton Ave. for the real deal. Geno's, Pat's and Jim's are for the tourists.

I get it...I posted with some irony as Bud/Anheuser purchased Rolling Rock a few years back and now makes it in Newark, NJ for heaven's sake. As a Temple grad student I'm in Philly a lot...I like Yeungling but I'm watching UFC so the RR seemed right.

I am enjoying your home town; just got back from the Dandelion Pub near Rittenhouse Square
