Their website forum reminds me of my first email account.

primary weakness at OSU?
Urban is clearly offering most of the same guys as Hoke but not winning the head-to-head battles. Their latest 3 classes look thin on contributors.
Rest of their roster is fairly deep with talent.
January 19th, 2013 at 2:04 PM ^
Urban offered them but the offers were non-commutable.
Sincerely,
Ohio honks

believe the car dealer stories about Terrelle and others!

The aforementioned gentleman is from Colorado. Might he also be going on a vision quest with Alex Kozan?
January 19th, 2013 at 1:50 PM ^
Perhaps you all should focus more on the fact that we havent won a Big10 title in a very long while, than to overhype OSU losing one player. Surely they'll be fine at OL. And I won't be surprised to see Hunt go there now.
I digress.... Lewan is the man because he is coming back for 'unfinished business' which means he gets it... its for a Big Ten title.
January 19th, 2013 at 1:55 PM ^
Because the reason why UM football hasn't won a B1G title in so long is because of the fan base discussing our rival's team on a message board. As fans this is what we do; we look for even the tiniest reasons why we will be successful and others not. What we discuss has little to no effect in how the team performs on gameday.

Well, how else to productively fill the void until September?
January 19th, 2013 at 2:23 PM ^
I'm getting the feeling that you might be headed for a meltdown soon. The return to the old voting system is not going to be kind to you.
January 19th, 2013 at 3:11 PM ^
I have a sneaking suspicion he's a relatively toned down, Barking Sphincter, King of Belch, IJJS, etc.

Good God, the site that link points to is so archaic I refused to read it on general principle.

They do look pretty big for 2013 based on their projected starters with both tackles over 6'6" 310, both guards over 6'4" 300, and their center at 6'3" 295. But, for 2014 they will have to replace both guards, center, and one tackle. I'm not sure where their depth comes from based on the last few recruting classes and the transfer. They could struggle for Miller's senior year, which is nice because that's when our d-line will start to be coming into it's own.
January 19th, 2013 at 2:02 PM ^
With the Game in the shoe in 2014 a weak Ohio line will be very nice.

I admit ignorance on this - does OSU have any barriers to JUCO recruiting like UM?
I would expect Urban to recruit very well in this area (focus purely on Fball and NFL rather than academics).
January 19th, 2013 at 2:10 PM ^
Can you explain that? I'm ignorant to this idea. Why can't UM take JUCO transfers...does admissions not allow it or are we simply saying we have a higher academic standard and although they can accept them it's not as likely?
January 19th, 2013 at 2:23 PM ^
I think the latter. Michigan is actually very accepting of some community colleges' students, but maybe not across the board.
January 19th, 2013 at 2:28 PM ^
admissions standards are highly unreceptive to JUCO credits. Some schools - K State is the best example - thrive on JUCO recruiting.
I just wonder if OSU could quickly add mature OL with JUCO guys.
January 19th, 2013 at 2:45 PM ^
JUCOs are there for academic reasons, that don't often improve enough for UMs standards. Ohio's standards are less of a problem.
January 19th, 2013 at 2:21 PM ^
EDIT: Nothing to see here.
January 19th, 2013 at 2:39 PM ^
Ohio State has taken JUCOs before, but it's rare. Larry Grant is the only one I can think of off the top of my head, and that was 7 or 8 years ago.
January 19th, 2013 at 10:54 PM ^
Miller chooses to opt out early which wouldn't be terrible news for 2014 either. This is in reply to something 5-10 posts upstream but it doesn't seem to want to go there.
January 19th, 2013 at 1:58 PM ^
Ohio sucks. They suck. I hate em. Don't talk about them.
Okay good I got that out of the way. But really, WHAT?
January 19th, 2013 at 2:04 PM ^
Went back and looked at the Florida recruiting classes from 2005-2011. (I do realize that the 05 and 11 classes were not fully Meyers). Florida took more than three o-lineman just once. And a couple of the years they took under three. Does this mean anything? I don't know for sure but I feel it relates to the thread.
Also, it interesting that the the past three Florida seasons have produced very bad offensive numbers. The first one coached by Meyer and the last two mostly his guys. And where do most offensive woes begin? The O-line. I'm most likely reaching right now but I figured it was worth a look.
January 19th, 2013 at 2:30 PM ^
Other than Maurkice Pouncey, it didn't seem that Florida produced many big-time linemen during his tenure there.
There have also been rumors/inklings that Meyer isn't the greatest talent evaluator and dislikes the recruiting process. He had some decent talent left from the Ron Zook years, and he turned that into some pretty good teams. So far he rode Braxton Miller (a Tressel recruit) to an undefeated season, but we'll see what happens as the years go on.
January 19th, 2013 at 2:45 PM ^
Yeah, I always thought that if Miller wouldn't have been the QB or had a bad freshman season then Meyer may not have ended up there. Just my opinion.
January 19th, 2013 at 3:15 PM ^
QB is definitely key for Meyer's teams. When some guy named Tebow wasn't playing for him at Florida his teams weren't real special special offensively. The first championship team had Chris Leak under center but looking back on that team they were far from an offensive juggernaut. In fact, it was a dominate defense led by one Greg Matteson that carried that team to the mythical national championship game.
January 19th, 2013 at 4:25 PM ^
Actually the stats from the 2006 team on offense are pretty good considering the SEC defenses that year. You're forgetting Percy Harvin.
January 19th, 2013 at 2:27 PM ^
It will be interesting to see the matchups in the future. It looks like Meyer prefers D lineman to O lineman. OSU is getting some pretty decent DL guys and I think our OL vs. their DL will determine the future of this rivalry. The quality of our DL recruits seems to be going up so I think they will be able to handle their own. If our OL recruting can trump or neutralize Meyers DL recruiting than I don't see any reason why we wouldn't fair well in the coming years.
January 19th, 2013 at 2:56 PM ^
That's a fare assessment.
January 19th, 2013 at 3:10 PM ^
I have to give them the upper hand in the playmaker department unfortunately...
January 19th, 2013 at 3:18 PM ^
I think you're right, but if we can get RBs like Derrick Green then a great running game would be the answer to their speedy playmakers. Below is one of his most recent tweets to David Dawson. I don't know what it means but probably that he is coming to Michigan (sarcasm).

I hope they lose a few more. I am sure their extra beneifits are being watched a little closer now days.

Always happy to hear that things aren't perfect in Columbus.

Kate puts on her dancing shoes for news like this. Eff Ohio.
January 19th, 2013 at 11:07 PM ^
If it is O'Connor, he was injured this year and had to red shirt. News about him has been scarce all season, so who knows. I'm not incredibly concerned about losing him (if it is him) as he hasn't proven to be a vital backup even. The 2 deep for next year is mostly set as well. The 2014 season is when the impact may be felt the most. I'd honestly like to poach a few of your OL recruits, but will be content if we finish strong in the next couple weeks. I expect us to to do pretty well in 2014 on the OL with 4, possibly 5 taken. I imagine you guys will be pretty light on the OL recruiting next year. What's the MGoBlog guess on your 2014 OL numbers?
January 20th, 2013 at 1:54 AM ^
I'd imagine they'd be around 3 or 4. Hoke is putting in a tendency to recruit at least 3 OL every class.
January 20th, 2013 at 8:24 AM ^
We lose two guys to graduation (Lewan, Schofield), and in the meantime, I'm guessing at least one guy will transfer or quit football. So yeah, like the guy above said, probably 3 or 4.
