Yea the refs sucked, yea too many turnovers...but we just beat the #9 team in the country and we're 17-1! Our guys had a stretch where they played out of their minds too...that's huge on the road.

MICHIGAN vs. MINNESOTA - Postgame Comments (or POSBANG) Thread

I just poured a little Glenfiddich into the glass to celebrate the win. Hard fought game, but a game that  we needed and took on the road.

We did well - we got back to playing in line - even above - season averages, including 54.9% for FGs and 68% for FTs. 10-20 for three-pointers stands out as well. As a team,  19 assists and 13 steals best the Gophers stats as well. In the end, the turnovers worked out to 16 for the Gophers and 11 for Michigan, so they definitely matter in games where the numbers say we're quite evenly matched. The game came down to taking advantage of the little (and some not so little) aspects of the game, if  you will, and we did that.

Hey, I'm with you.  I have a bottle of 21 year old Balvenie hanging around in my liquor cabinet waiting for the day when we make the Final Four.  I'm thinking this could be the year.

As for Glenfiddich vs. Glenlivet, I prefer Glenfiddich myself, but the palate prefers what the palate prefers.  Either way, you're enjoying 12 year old single-malt scotch, so your day is going pretty well regardless.

I understood that we committed a foul on the play, but they weren't in the double bonus yet and that couldn't have an an "in the act" foul.  Just curious if anyone else noticed that.

You get a plus one.
Hardaway got everything started tonight with his shooting. Yost was also critical of Burke in the first half about his shot selection. It is pretty difficult watching a POY candidate on a 17-1 team. Maybe Yost will can be player/coach when he does break into the rotation. We'll call him the duel threat!!!

What you have to understand I that bitch about everything.  It makes me feel less nervous about games.  Otherwise, I'm just a ball of stress and it becomes very difficult for me to watch the team play.

Besides, it's not like my statement was completely unreasonable.  He DOES need to cut down on turnovers.

When did I say it was my primary takeaway?  Oh that's right, I didn't.  You just completely made that up.  I was making a comment that I think is perfectly legitimate.  He had 6 turnovers, which is a lot, and if you think Hardaway himself is not prioritizing protecting the ball moving forward, you're crazy.

I agree, but the most egregious turnover by THJ was on Vogrich, I think. THJ was yelling at him after that and watching the replay showed that Vogrich was basically just standing there which allowed the Minnesota guy to get to THJ without anything in his way.

I feel a bit bad about some things about how we played when we BEAT A TOP TEN TEAM ON THE ROAD.  I remember the Amaker era (my freshman year) and seeing the team literally sit at a table on the Diag and beg people to go to games.  Amazing how far we have come in six years.  Really amazing.

Wait, so all of you aren't here for just the posbang? But seriously, this was a damn good win. There were stretches where M looked unbeatable even though Minn was hitting their 3s. This conference, especially on the road, will be tough to navigate. This and the Ohio game will be good for the team down the road.

if I ever hope to get the points to post new topics and ride that gravy train. I thought the refs were pretty bad, but Minnesota hated them too, so maybe it's a wash. A road win like that is always nice, and I'm looking forward to the bump we'll get in the standings.
