OT- Sunday night drinking/cheer up thread

Submitted by Rather be on BA on

Sunday may not be a regular "drinking thread" night, but after todays events I think we could all use a nice beer or three to numb the wounds.

I am enjoying a Crooked Tree IPA and will follow that up with a 60 minute IPA.  Cheers.

As I mentioned. Forget Xs and Os. We just gotta be dawgs. We're better than anyone we'll play. Just gotta let em know

actually, I think izzo's biggest weakness is that he doesn't let is players play.  What I like about Belein is he seems to let he players play.

The original thought is right; playcalling matters but sometimes you just gotta trust the athleticism and let the dawgs out like it's 1996

Will trade a loss to Ohio today for a big ten title.  Will trade Lewan coming back for Webb not coming at all.  Gained an O-line Commit.  Still have a great shot for the #1 back in his class.  Its time for a Champagne of Beers.

waiting until I can take some more hydrocodone in an hour or two. Also about to eat some pulled pork, coleslaw, spicy pickles, baked beans and potato salad. I'll probably switch to Dr. Pepper for dinner.

I tore a piece of my lateral meniscus in my left knee the night before the Nebraska (football) game, and finally got it fixed on Friday.

Thankfully it seems like I'll only be on these pills for a few more days, then I can start getting back to working out and walking normally (and beer, of course).

Funny my dad is tougher than your dad story. My father had some cartilage cleaned up in his knee recently and I was asking him how it felt. He goes on to tell me that he doesn't have an ACL in either knee because injuries sustained in an old timers football game 35 yrs ago when high schools still has those. I asked him why he never looked into getting them fixed and he said," I had to work." I was floored

so I am cooking up some Mexican-themed venison chili.  Will probably eat that with a Pino Grigio from California.  Then it is Calculus and a Molson Canadian if I am feeling lucky.

Faith not shaken.  Go Blue forever.

Hope for the future though

So Michigan loses in the Outback Bowl to an SEC team with their second year coach, ending a disappointing season with 8 wins. Denver looks like a Super Bowl team with home field advantage, a second year coach and a stellar 36 year old qb only to lose by 3 in the divisional round. What year does this happen?

1996 and 2012

The next year - 1997 - Michigan wins the national championship and Denver wins the Super Bowl. Coincidence, I think not.

Also I'm drinking Sweet tea today

Our football team is on the right track and we don't lose to teams like Toledo anymore. Oh and our basketball team is top 5, it has been worse for us in both sports.

I am enjoying a Samuel Adams Alpine Spring after a dinner which involved marinated tip steaks, white asparagus and roasted red potatoes. It was quite delicious and definitely helped brighten the mood (I made it, so I am in no way biased). As for today, any loss to Ohio State stings, but I will definitely take 16-1 with 14 games left and none in which we cannot compete - it's an excellent problem to have.

I was pretty bummed, as well.  In fact, irate.

Then I remembered that Michigan is a Top 20 academic institution and Ohio St is the equivalent to a regional trucking school.

It will always be great to be a Michigan Wolverine.

Now back to the boozin'!

To make things worse I've got firecracker shits from the Szechuan chicken I ordered earlier. General tso wouldn't have done me like this. I'm sorry I cheated on you general.

Shot and a beer at the Denver Airport. Missed the 2nd playoff game but I guess I didn't miss much. Anyone want to make some guesses for the Super Bowl? I think it is going to be 49ers-Ravens in a Harbaugh-off, with Jim getting the best of John 34-24.

Nobody goes undefeated anymore.  This loss takes a lot of pressure off, and introduced the freshmen to rivalry games, Big Ten style.  Now, they won't get blindsided when they play Sparty.  JB gets to do a lot of teaching, and gets to adjust to what appeared to be some pretty good tweaks by Ohio.

Besides, after all of Ohio's histrionics, Michigan nearly pulled this game out.  They are already adjusting to Ohio's adjustments.  This team will be there when it counts.

Brady Hoke is going to visit Derrick Green tomorrow. No doubt a positive for us during the final push. I will take Green and Lewan's return over Webb and a 3-point, road, conference loss, to a ranked team any day. I wish we had more situations like this to "comiserate" over.

Never the less, I'm drinking an Iron City.

Dogfishhead Theobroma...one of their 'Ancient Ale' line where they do a reconstruction of ancient beers from chemical analysis of pottery shards.  This is Aztec..chocolate with a bit of chiles.

9% ABV...perfect while watching Tom Brady going to the AFC Championship game again...

Nothing to be sad about in all reality. Have a Top-5 Men's basketball team who tied the best start in program history, and a Women's basketball team who is off to their best start in program history at 14-2 and 3-0 in B1G play.

Yes, that is a combined 30-3 for Michigan Basketball. That has never happened.

And some food for thought, that 1989 National Championship team lost 9 games (one of them to a D2 Alaska-Anchorage Seawolves team) and didn't win the B1G. But still won the one that mattered most.

With baseball, softball & lacrosse season less than a month away, it's about to get really fun.

I think you mean the year before when Michigan played up in Anchorage in the 1987 Great Alaska Shootout.

The game they lost to Alaska-Anchorage was the following year in the Utah Basketball Classic in Salt Lake City.

No drinks for me unfortunately, going to bed early since I'm pulling a 24 hr shift tomorrow. Went through a Shiner Bock variety six pack yesterday which was surprisingly delicious.

Drinking tap water.  I was only able to watch the first ten minutes of so of the game, so I am buoyed by the way the young Michigan team was able to claw its way back from such a huge deficit in a hostile environment to a really good team.
