Schaefer/Wheatley coaching jobs

Submitted by k.o.k.Law on

I met Scott Schaefer after a spring practice his hear as DC for RR.  Very nice guy, very enthusiastic.

He was fired for GERG, and went to Syracuse as DC.

Buffalo Bills hired Syracuse head coach, Marrone, Schaefer hired to replace him this week.

Marrone has now hired Tyrone Wheatley as RB coach.

I'm not the grammar police, but I seriously couldn't understand what you were trying to say.

Edit: Now I get it...Wheatley is now the RB coach with the Buffalo Bills. Interesting, I wonder if he'd come back to Michigan to take the same role after Coach Jackson retires. If not, Coach Mike Hart is on Wheatley's track as an up-and-coming coach and would be a great addition.

was one of our fantasies, but now with his impressive coaching trajectory, I suspect he'd be waiting for Hoke's retirement.  Or maybe Borges... Hmmm.  Do many OCs come from RB coaching?

Fantasies continue.

Why the heck are we even considering Wheatley as an OC or HC?

Talk about taking things too far. He has no experience doing either and you guys are putting him as the coach-in-waiting?

Sorry, but to hold those positiions without any experience will rarely happen at Michigan unless you're a successful coordinator that is promoted when the HC moves on.

When the day comes to replace Jackson with Wheatley or Hart it'll split the fanbase...well not to the core but let's say to about where it split us when Harbaugh ran his mouth off about academics.

Interesting info but work on the formatting. I would also proofread what you read and rearrange some words. It's really tough to understand. This coming from a guy who can't write so gud either.

"I met Scott Schaefer after a spring practice his hear as DC for RR"

What I think you meant to type was "after a spring practice his year as DC for RR" but even that's a bit rough.  I guessing based on the brevity of writing your post got spell-checked by a smart phone.

Either way though the content is great and informative.  Very happy for Wheatley making it to the NFL.

Really looking forward to see what will happen there. Wheatley is a great dude and hopefully he can live long enough to replace Fred. Although, Fred just might live forever.

Does anyone know which school has the most former players coaching? I imagine a lot of the Ohio schools would be up there but it seems like UM would have a fairly high number.

As a native Western New Yorker I can say that the folks in Buffalo are pretty disappointed that they got Marrone instead of one of the bigger name coaches.  However, if they followed Michigan like we did during the end of the RR era I think they'd realize that taking over after a GERG-induced crater at SU and turning it into a respectable squad that quickly is a pretty significant accomplishment.  Great to see Wheatley get a shot in the NFL and work with 2 great RB's.

Steve Morrison was LB Coach for Cuse in 2012. Shafer named Chuck Bullough (from MSU and most recently Cleve Browns) as his D Coord on Friday, and it remains to be seen what that means for Morrison.

From reading tweets of Syracuse media and this write up, Shafer nailed his intro press conference on Friday, a la Hoke two years ago.
