LSA Aught One

I bet their boosters got to him.  No way he goes to that scho...I mean company, without a payoff.  He'd have come here if we'd have matched the offer, but we don't play those games in this conference.  Oh well, I hope he enjoys all the free money and girls they have there.

Damn, well there goes our best free resource for recruiting.  That being said, he's done some good work, and it's good that Tremendous is getting the recognition.

Still...first TomVH, now Tremendous...

I can't remember the last time Ace interviewed a prospect or basically did anything that the rest of us couldn't do. The recruiting pieces have info from all the major recruiting sites and he just extrapolates on them. He does other stuff but I wouldn't defend him when it comes to recruiting.

You're having a hard time following the posts, aren't you? We're talking about recruiting and I stated how Ace doesn't do much with that. He does do a lot of other stuff that is great but we're talking about recruiting. If you need me to go into further detail then I don't think this is the place for you.

I think he was starting to do some interviews & then Tremendous popped up.  Brian & Ace (IMO wisely) probably figured the same set of kids didn't need ANOTHER guy harassing them about their recruitment (esp. when all the Tremendous info was freely available).

Except he's not asking random teenage boys to follow him on twitter, just the ones who are future D1 football players.  If those guys feel that Steve is bothering them, they can block him on twitter or facebook and stop returning his calls or texts.

These kids may be sub-18, but they're public figures.  They have the right to their privacy if they want it, but trying to report on them is not creepy at all.  Most of them probably love it, and the ones who don't probably tell him as much.

I don't know man, I don't think any interaction with a high school kid is creepy.

Example:  I go to the local high school basketball and football games on occasion.  That's not creepy.  I also spend about a quarter of the time checking out the girls who go to said high school, thinking that high school girls in California look a lot older than the ones in Michigan when i was in high school.  Yeah, that's kinda creepy.

See I have a sister who is 8ish years younger than I am.   She was a very good high school athlete and ultimately a D1 athlete.  She gets/got creepy text messages (before twitter) and ultimately tweets from local newspapers, blogs and strangers all over the country and this is just a fraction of the attention that a top tier football or basketball recruit would get.

I'm probably just too close to the situation to think about it rationally.

See, looking at it from the point of view of a girl might be the reason you think it's creepy.  I could see how a 17 year old girl gets creeped out by a bunch of men she doesn't know contacting and photographing her.  But a 17 year old boy who thinks he's a total tough guy (most future D1 football players, I would imagine) unlikely feels threatened at all, and more than likely loves the attention.

Some of them might see it as annoying, but I would bet very few of them see it as creepy.

TTB has its own niche.  It focuses heavily on player rating and a lot of depth chart analysis mixed with some football strategy.  It serves as another player rating site that focuses on Michigan prospects as well as players on the team (and some that have graduated from/ left the team).  They mix in recruiting news that is publicly available, but the focus is on football.  While initially I enjoyed tremendous more, I now greatly prefer TTB since it has a better defined focus and offers original view points (I've thought that tremendous's  basketball analysis has been absolutely futile.)  Having said that, I have really enjoyed the recruit interviews that tremendous does.  On the other hand, where would we be without all the boobs on TTB?

Sam Webb's Twitter Feed is still free!

It sucks in that we never really replaced TomVH in terms of the ability to foresee the future.  Tom could often predict stuff (or give strong hints) a week or more out and his predictions about the big picture were normally dead on.  Tremendous seemed to be moving along that path, but he just stopped being free.

Hopefully someone else emerges to fill the void.

He deserves it, but bummer, I'll miss his site and twitter feed.

I pay too much attention to recruiting anyway.  Maybe I'll pick up a hobby.  Hmmm...knitting or crocheting?
