Predictions for Mich/Neb bball

Submitted by goblue85 on

Michigan basketball returns to action tomorrow night at Crisler 7pm against nebraska BTN.  This should be a game that hopefully we will get to rest most of starters in 2nd half to have them fresh for Sunday in Columbus.  I expect Burke and the boys to take care of business and win to tie the school record for best start 16-0.

Nebraska is real bad, and this offense has continued to get better all season long. Michigan continues it's streak of 90+ games in B1G play by winning 96-64.

It will be an ugly loss for Nebraska.  Seeing Coach Pelini near the Nebraska bench, with kitten in hand, will please me even more.

We will get up by a lot, early, and B will give significant non-garbage time minutes to Spike, Caris and Max.  Hopefully, also get some test minutes for Horford.  Then, it's milk and cookies and early bedtimes until Ohio.

We will kill Nebraska. But I wonder if Beilein uses the game to practice some sets? (two posts?) Or if he rests his starters the second half. Or if he focuses on defense? If he shows new wrinkles, or keeps them hidden til needed (vs. Ohio, or Indiana, or MSU?)

I'll go with 90 - 50. No one is going to stop this offense, and I think they will work on tightening the screws even more on defense.

Thanks Coach for making Michigan Basketball something to be proud about again.  It's been way too long since there were Big 10 games that you knew UM was going to win even before the  game started.  Can't wait to watch the boys take Nebraska to the woodshed.

Some head-to-head averages, courtesy of TeamRankings. This seems like a game Michigan was almost designed to win easily, and perhaps by more than the 21.4 point average victory margin.

  Nebraska Michigan
Points/Game 59.1 80.7
Avg Score Margin -1.4 21.4
Assists/Game 10.3 16.8
Total Rebounds/Gm 33.9 38.4
Effective FG % 46.80% 59.30%
Off Rebound % 24.10% 34.00%
FTA/FGA 0.292 0.278
Turnover % 16.30% 12.70%

Given that data, I could see a 90-62-ish performance as about right.
