Predictions for Mich/Neb bball
Michigan basketball returns to action tomorrow night at Crisler 7pm against nebraska BTN. This should be a game that hopefully we will get to rest most of starters in 2nd half to have them fresh for Sunday in Columbus. I expect Burke and the boys to take care of business and win to tie the school record for best start 16-0.
Michigan 90
Nebraska 54

I love that a nineteen point victory is a let down.

I hope we sub in Russell Bellomy so he can gain some confidence for next season.
January 8th, 2013 at 8:28 AM ^
Nebraska is real bad, and this offense has continued to get better all season long. Michigan continues it's streak of 90+ games in B1G play by winning 96-64.

January 8th, 2013 at 8:38 AM ^
I don't think Michigan will get to 90 for a third straight game but something like 78-47 sounds good.

How did Wisconsin almost lose to Nebraska?
January 8th, 2013 at 8:56 AM ^
Yup. Badger Nation is a tad nervous after surviving the Lincoln, NE house of pain to the tune of 47-41. I started to watch that game on BTN, but immediately realized NFL playoff football provided more entertainment value.
January 8th, 2013 at 9:14 AM ^
Staring at a blank wall provided more entertainment value than that game.

Followed by Michigan hockey vs BG at Yost BTN. Good Michigan programming today!

Michigan: 95
Nebraska: 68

So you're calling Michigan a sea cow that should be locked in captivity?
January 8th, 2013 at 9:13 AM ^
No a giant behemoth who wants to eat a child.
I didn't know they had manatees in captivity...

Texas Chainsaw Massacre

With that said, I think Nebraska will be the first team in history to cry for a mercy rule.

I love that a Columbus kid will be taking it to Ohio.
January 8th, 2013 at 9:21 AM ^
It will be an ugly loss for Nebraska. Seeing Coach Pelini near the Nebraska bench, with kitten in hand, will please me even more.
January 8th, 2013 at 9:23 AM ^
I just hope they're not looking ahead to the OSU game.

Must be a new picture of Urban. You can tell he's been enjoying the south Florida sunshine.

Well-played, Thorin.

95 - 45... Then Ohio on Sunday
January 8th, 2013 at 9:36 AM ^
I'm predicting multiple pained texts from my Nebraska relatives.
January 8th, 2013 at 5:19 PM ^
I'm from Omaha, I don't know a single person that has ever watched a Nebraska basketball game voluntarily.
January 8th, 2013 at 9:39 AM ^
Ugh. You know what I meant...

Michigan wins
January 8th, 2013 at 9:40 AM ^
We will get up by a lot, early, and B will give significant non-garbage time minutes to Spike, Caris and Max. Hopefully, also get some test minutes for Horford. Then, it's milk and cookies and early bedtimes until Ohio.
January 8th, 2013 at 9:50 AM ^
We will kill Nebraska. But I wonder if Beilein uses the game to practice some sets? (two posts?) Or if he rests his starters the second half. Or if he focuses on defense? If he shows new wrinkles, or keeps them hidden til needed (vs. Ohio, or Indiana, or MSU?)
I'll go with 90 - 50. No one is going to stop this offense, and I think they will work on tightening the screws even more on defense.
January 8th, 2013 at 10:08 AM ^
Rest for the starters is key. Some minutes for Horford will also be a plus.
I'm still a little leary of how tired the team looked @ the B1G tourney and of course, the NCAAs last year.
January 8th, 2013 at 10:37 AM ^
Last year's team didn't have as much size, depth or overall talent as this one. I liked last year's team, but this one could be special. This team is not going to wear down. If anything, it could peak at the end of the season.
January 8th, 2013 at 10:00 AM ^
Think: Nebraska and Bo Pelini in the B1G Title game.

Michigan 83
Nebraska 50

Let's see....
vs. NW: 94-66
vs. Iowa: 95-67
vs. Neb: 96-68
Seems pretty doable.

Thanks Coach for making Michigan Basketball something to be proud about again. It's been way too long since there were Big 10 games that you knew UM was going to win even before the game started. Can't wait to watch the boys take Nebraska to the woodshed.

Some head-to-head averages, courtesy of TeamRankings. This seems like a game Michigan was almost designed to win easily, and perhaps by more than the 21.4 point average victory margin.
Nebraska | Michigan | |
Points/Game | 59.1 | 80.7 |
Avg Score Margin | -1.4 | 21.4 |
Assists/Game | 10.3 | 16.8 |
Total Rebounds/Gm | 33.9 | 38.4 |
Effective FG % | 46.80% | 59.30% |
Off Rebound % | 24.10% | 34.00% |
FTA/FGA | 0.292 | 0.278 |
Turnover % | 16.30% | 12.70% |
Given that data, I could see a 90-62-ish performance as about right.
