Leather Helmets Myth
Something I put together a little while back when I thought I was worthy of a real blog. Whoops. In any case, I think it's a nice little "fact"-finding piece. It certainly won't hold up to the scrutiny of Mgocommenters, but it's a topic worth pondering nonetheless:

I thought for a second that someone was going to dispell the myth that leather helmets could be used as a contraceptive.
But, I like the route that you took. I'm glad to see the winning percentages have pretty much held firm over the decades. I chalk it all up to consistency. We may not be in the NC game every year, but we rarely win less than 8 games. Heck, the one year we win only 7 has been dubbed "the Season of Infinite Pain".
People can say that Michigan's loaded up on softies all they want, but the truth is, Michigan has played the toughest schedule in CFB history:

That right there pretty much invalidates the whole leather helmet myth, doesn't it?
The same holds true for the Big Ten - as a conference, we have the hardest schedule, historically. Take that, SEC.
