Practice Unis

First of all, I'm not suggesting we change the home jerseys - they are perfect just they way they are. However, would I be the only one who thinks the stripes on the side are actually pretty cool? I'd go so far to say that I'd love to see our white away jerseys with the three stripes on the side in maize and have that as our away jersey. I think it's much better than the weird WVU-like wrapping we currently have. Lately I have been watching more and more Wolverine Historian on YouTube (and HUGE props to that man, by the way, for that channel) and there have been SO many iterations of the white jersey that I don't think it would be a huge deal. I'd love you hear your thoughts. Also - college football beings today! How can you not be excited?

I think a lot of people said they really like those. I don't. They stop shy of the arm and look weird, and besides, it's not like it's all that innovative, it's just a jersey application of something adidas does on a lot of its stuff. Not that I like the hideous weird stripes on the away jersey either, but at least they don't show up much on TV.

I'm still waiting for Adidas to make a unique Michigan jersey, something that is truly ours and only ours. So far, all they've done is try to make Michigan more Adidas-esque. However, and this goes waaay back into the offseason-- I think the single color blue numbers on the away are FREAKIN' FANTASTIC. Lose the maize trim, I say!

Not good enough for gameday. Details under the arm just do not generally come out as nice as uniform designers think they will when looking at their computer screens. Stretch fabrics have helped this to some extent (in that there is rarely a handful of loose material just hanging there in the armpit any more), but I'll be darned if I won't think that yellow features under the arm will come off as being sweat stains. That said, I have some soccer shirts from European teams that carry the three stripes down the shoulders, and those do not shock and frighten me. I am not advocating this for Michigan gear, o all-seeing M-Den overlords... The point is that adidas can be very creative in placing their brandmark, since it can simply be a design element. Good call on their part for having simple stripes as a trademark.

Shockingly, the NCAA has regulations on Adidas uniforms. Since the stripes evoke their brand logo, they are normally limited to a certain size and color scheme. To the NCAA, it'd be like a giant Nike swoosh on the side of jersey, and jibberjabberjibberjabber The NCAA Isn't About Making Money jibberjabberjibberjabber. NCAA Review of Adidas Design Limits

but I'd be interested to see something like that with stripes down the side. With the way they are, they look kind of cheap. I like them a lot for practice jerseys, but I don't know how I feel about them as actual gameday jerseys. I would really like to see some new away jerseys, though. I don't like copying arkansas.

There is no way that I would want such a big part of the Uni to be a brand logo. Don't get me wrong, I am an Adidas guy. Almost all of my shoes are Adidas. But I do not want to turn the uniform into a billboard, If your for that, why not just go soccer and completely sell out every inch of the jersey and while we are at it lets sell the naming rights to the stadium. "Good afternoon and welcome to The Viagra Big House".
