OT Imploring UM fans to not go "Red Cedar"

Submitted by SpreadGuru on

On the eve on yet another New Year's Day bowl game, I just wanted to post this public service announcement to Michigan fans across the globe:

While we all hope for a win tomorrow, understand the following message.  If things go south, please don't get on here and sound like the Red Cedar Message Board on Saturday night.  They sat there and ripped coaches, players and everyone in between.  It was quite comical reading actually.  The phrase "Stay Classy Ann Arbor" has to be more than a MGOSHIRT.  Al Borges is OUR offensive coordinator.  Whether you agree with every call or not, that's our guy until Brady decides that he's not.  So let's root for our team, analyze the game but by no means should we act like Red Cedar whiny [plural naughty word] if things aren't "breaking our way."

Happy New Year

Mod edit: I'd venture a guess that a lot of the more fervent vitriol you're getting from this post was that one particular phrase. I know it's probably too late, but maybe this will help focus the future comments on the pros and cons of the entire OP. JGB.

Why would you ever compare the MGoBoard to RCMB? Until there are threads about "How best to please my wife (in BED LOL)", "Who else hates Maxwell because he suckz?", and "Reasons why scUM, O$$$U, and PENETRATION (see what I did there) State are LOZERZ", please do not complain about the MGoBoard. This is by far (outside of perhaps r/cfb) one of the most rational football boards out there.

to the rcmb, take a look.  It is just plain comical.  Most of those guys cannot string a complete sentence together.  There is a guy named nucky that is a Mgo Fan that keeps fuc&ing with them.  He drives them nuts.  They have tried to ban him but the guy obviously went to UM Engineering because he always comes back.

Love this man's perspective AND that I found someone else who tossed "blu" into their user name.  Right on.

Now THAT is a great question.  Some people seem to make a living off talking about Sparty or rcmb references whenever possible.  I'll never understand that here, personally. I come here to talk blue. If I wanted to be a backwards **** and demean myself, I'd go post over there.  But the constant out of the blue references get old kinda quick.  Little brother, couches, we get it..

But there is a huge difference:

MGoFan:  That was a questionable call IMO.  I would have went for it on 4th down.

rcmb:  WHAT THE FU*&??  I WANT ROUCHAR FIRED NOW.  Tell him to leave the stadium now.  (Then when moo u wins):  OMG HE IS A GOD AMOUNGST MEN.  GIVE HIM HTE KEYS TO THE UNIVERSE.  NOW WE REALLY GONNA RECRUIT NATIONALLY.  fOR REAL.  scUM CAN KISS MY @SS.

FWIW I haven't heard any MSU fans praising their offense for anything this year.  I have some in the family but they've been very critical of their offensive and offensive staff, even when they have won.  The only reason I stomach them being around and talking football is because they're knowledgable of the game (enough to have actual, consistent criticisms).

If the offensive play calling sucks, I'm going to say it sucks and then blame Al Borges (the person responsible for the offensive play calling).  I will then blame Brady Hoke for hiring him as well as resume calling for Borges' head.

Any questions?

I always go there when we win because they get so unsecure about Michigan football getting back to the top and it's entertaining to read because they talk more about Michigan than we talk about Michigan.

I don't see the problem of coming on here to "bitch" as you say about poor performances.  I find it odd that you even try to influence MgoBlog in that way.  If we do lose, what the hell do you expect to happen on here anyway?  I mean its an internet sports blog for crying out loud.  You may as well tell us all to not feel bad, or upset, or even angry as if it's not justified.  Granted it is just a game but it is one we are all obviously passionate about, and I would say that passion is definitely part of the game.

If you don't like those posts, don't read them.  Better yet if we lose don't visit the site until spring football.  But I think the board police/hall monitor undertones have gotten way tiresome.

The REAL question which others have mentioned and I find equally as odd, is what the hell do you care about MSU so much that you would read their blog?

I'll be OK because...

1. I don't think this bowl means that much for us win or lose

2. I think we will be really good in a few years

3. It's not embarrising to lose to a team ranked 8 places ahead of you

4. We could have easily beaten one team in the national championship game and another team that would be in the national championship game if they weren't on suspension

5. We beat MSU this year

6. My frustration from the ND, Nebraska, and OSU games are over

7. I just don't have the same emotional connection to South Carolina as I do those teams mentioned in 5 & 6

8. I kinda like Spurrier...he just amuses me

9. I don't expect us to win anyways so my expectations are not that high

10. It's a new year and I'll go to the gym, have a great lift, and feel great before the game starts

By imploring us to not go Red Cedar, you have implied that that is possible on MGoBlog, and, actually, have made us more red cedar than we would have been without this post.

as they are is a good indication of the differences between the sites. My first thought when reading the OP was that I'd have to delay picking up Yuengling and champagne, but I'd say everyone did an okay job showing the interwebz why MGoBlog =/= RCMB.
