Mike Patrick doin' his best Brent Musberger in the pre-game opening.

"This game is monumental for Duke" (vs Cincinnati in the Charlotte-based bowl).

I picked two big upsets: Ball St (Loser) and OHIO!  Needless to say, I really need OHIO to beat LA-Monroe.

I'm 6-3 with losses from Ball St, Fresno St., and Western Kentucky.  The Ball State one set me back big. The Fresno St I could live with. The WKU one hurt. Dumb coaching decision to go for that 4th and 1 by not drawing them offsides or just running the ball.

Only four (of 33) people picked Duke in my pool, so this won't affect me that much if they win. I think it lets one person jump me and one tie with me.

Winn denied a 1st down. I suppose that if you haven't really done much, well, tackling or stopping of any kind, Duke can celebrate not letting someone get a first down. It's the small victories in these bowl games, right?

That being said, we are almost at 1,000 yards of offense between both teams in this game. Cincinnati is in danger of letting the Blue Devils punch in another one with that catch at the Bearcats' 8 yard-line.

EDIT: ....and Duke yet again loses it inside the 10. The end zone will not bite you and throw you in the basement.

Shit. Saw that coming. Headed right for his blind side. Never had a chance.

Congrats Coach Stripling (Former DL coach at Michigan).

Dook first and goal at the Cincy 8 tied 34-all w ~1:30 to go. Cook fumbles, Cincy hits a tight end fly for a TD, then Dook gets to the Cincy 40 before a hit on the Dookie qb causes a popup to a lb who returns it for a TD.

Thrilled that Cincinnati (one of my alma maters) won -- but wow, Duke gave them a much better game than I thought they would. Still, when you're down to a skeletal coaching staff, I bet it's rather difficult to properly oversee all facets of the game. It certainly showed here.

OK, now all I need is for Michigan State to lose, Michigan to win, and Notre Dame to be blown out, and that'll kick off my 2013 the right way.

How about that RB for Cincinnati (as previously mentioned, from Michigan)? That kid is a beast. He sees an opening and GOES. Zero hesitation. Gotta like that style.
