OT - Fantasy Football Gloating / Dejection Thread

Submitted by tsabesi on

I'm sure a lot of people just had the championship for their fantasy teams this week. Since the board is going to be quiet, how did you do? What was your greatest triumph? Biggest mistake? etc.

This is the first year I won my league, hence making this thread to gloat, but I also want wisdom for next year.

The Core of my team (12 team league):

-Megatron - 1st Round

-AJ Green - 2nd Round

-AP / Matt Ryan - 3rd/4th Round (I forget which right now)

-Shonne Gree and James Jones were my main 2nd RB and 3rd WR

We play a 17-game season in my three leagues.

In one league, at the end of the regular season, which was week 14, I was facing a guy with Arian Foster, Andre Johnson and Owen Daniels.  I was up on him going into Monday night, where the Texans played the Pats.  He made up all the ground with those three guys he needed, except that the Texans yanked the starters at the end of the 3Q.  I beat him, avoiding the sixth (and last) playoff seed and instead gaining the second seed and bye.  We meet again, this time this week in the semifinals.  I had Brandon Pettigrew in my lineup, and so I had to get my ass home from Xmas shopping on Saturday to get his ass out of my lineup and find another TE.  Douchebag, my opponent, had already either picked up TE's or picked them up and dropped them, rendering those guys unavailable until after Sunday's games.

To make a long story short, I smashed him, with CJ Spiller, Jamaal Charles, Reggie Bush and Drew Brees (we have a crazy starting line-up system).  So, I'm in the championship match.  He had AP and Arian Foster LOL.

Half my picks got injured, but I rode Stafford, Eric Decker, and the waiver wire was kind to me with Cecil Shorts, Danario Alexander, Bryce Brown, and Knowshon Moreno.

Won the regular season, but lost to the 5th seed. She needed 21 points from Chris Johnson, and the dude breaks a 97 yard td run. Take it away and he got like 5 points.

we are a 14 team keeper league, which is exactly as insane as it sounds. we have 17 slots including defenders, special teams, & coaches ... so we really scrape the bottom of the talent barrel, digging pretty far into teams' depth charts to find serviceable players. drafting guys out of college is important. I finally won the league last year (the league's fifth season), and I made it into the championship matchup again this year with a pretty close victory over my best buddy last weekend.

the highlight personnel:
- drew brees
- Julio jones
- dez bryant
- Hakeem nicks
- Darren McFadden
- literally no other RBs, every one I pick up gets broken
- gronk

I like to keep a roster of young guys to help my future success.

No one ever cares about anyone else's fantasy team. It's like talking about a grocery list. That being said...

12 team league, 3 keepers. Mine were Tom Brady, A.J. Green, and AP. Filled that out with Ridley, SJax, Brandon Marshall, and Owen Daniels. Survived big games by Kaepernick and Rogers the last two weeks to emerge victorious in the playoffs

My opponent had Drew Brees and Dez Bryant. If they just had a good game(15 pts each) instead of amazing game, I would have won. Damn it to both of them!!!! My entire team had a solid day and every one of them scored double digits

174.5 to 99.5. Rode my top 4 picks Rodgers, Ryan (flex), Trent Richardson, and Doug Martin to an 11-2 regular season. Also had Wayne, Colston and Garcon. Picked up SD defense for this week. Now I gotta pick 2 keepers...

Started off 0-2... Rode a 7 game win streak and ended up the regular season 9-4.  Got the first round bye and won the championship by a manageable forty points... This may not seem too impressive, but I must tell you this was all done with Stafford starting 80% of my games.

My friends and I have had a non-ppr FF league for a little over 10 years now, and while I had won multiple public leagues, I had never won our private league...until this year.  The season started out rough (2-3), but after the 5th game, I never scored less than 100 pts and won 10 of my last 11, including my last 8 in a row to close out the season with a final record of 12-4 and the championship of course.  After an insane 43 moves (yes that's right, count 'em 43 waiver wire moves) my winning starting lineup was:

QB: Aaron Rodgers

WR: Andre Johnson

WR: Vincent Jackson

WR: Danny Amendola

RB: Adrian Peterson

RB: Knowshon Moreno

TE: Dennis Pitta

K: Shayne Graham

Def/ST: San Diego

Let's just say my record ended up worse than the Lions. Maurice Jones Drew getting hurt and Larry Fitzgerald having a terrible season killed my team. Well, that and my total lack of depth.

First year invited to this long standing keeper league. Kept Eric Decker and Moreno only using my last two picks. Cj Spiller and Payton brought me home!! Penn State Daycare will live on forever! Not to mention the 1200 in my pocket!

Missed the playoffs. My roommate is in the championship game this week. If I played his schedule, I would have made the playoffs. Just an unfortuate schedule draw on my part.
