Implementing the spread may also confer an additional advantage early on, as NFL teams haven't really had to face it.

Whatever team Kelly ends up on, I hope they play the Patriots at least once a season. Hurry up offense on both sides would be fun to watch.

I like Kelly's chances in the NFL as long as he moves away from the hurry up, that would kill his D in the NFL. You can do it at times like the Pats, but not the way he does it now.

Oregon doesn't run a hurry up, they run a no huddle and there's a huge difference.

I could see Saban being successful in Cleveland since they appear to be on the right track and not a shit show like Miami, but it's still Ohio and Cleveland. Not sure if he'd want to live there.

Detroits bankrupt , crime filled and just about devoid of industry. It's best days where 30-40 years ago. I'd live in Cleveland over Detroit anyday.

From what I've heard Cleveland isn't much better. It's also in Ohio which automatically makes it bad.

Admittedly, I don't watch pro sports. I think in the last two years I may have seen 4 quarters of pro football in total.
But, I know Dallas has been on a decade+ trail of sucktitude. JJ has show a willingness to open the checkbook for the right coach. What he hasn't shown is the ability to stay in his skybox and let the football guys run the team.
Saban would be the first since Jimmy Johnson to have the clout to put him at arms length and actually win games.

Nick Saban the Pro coach in Ohio holding (potentially) three CFB NC rings compared to Urb coaching the college team. Meyer be like "Wha?" and throws his hat in the NFL ring.
I wonder how Jerry Jones and Saban would get a long because I see the Cowboys as a more natural progression for "Saint" Nick.

would make sense since he is from the Northeast part of the country if I'm not mistaken.
I would love to see this happen so that Bama & Oregon will have to scramble to replace iconic coaches in their program histories.
And whatever ramifications it has regarding Urban is all the more fun to think about for those miserable buckeye fans, many of them anyways...I've actually met some cool ones out here, maybe cause it's in CA.

I don't get Nick Saban would leave. What successful college to NFL coaches have their been? Harbaugh and Carroll? Carroll only went back because he knew USC was going to get hammered. Saban gets paid like an NFL coach and is a God to those rednecks. Why leave?

I forgot about Johnson and Switzer but none of the other guys metioned went from HC at college football-->NFL HC. Vermeil had prior NFL experience and not to mention most of NFL success came after he came back to coaching.

Are you purposely missing the point? They all had coordinator experience in the NFL prior to becoming HCs. We're talking about guys jumping straight from college HC-->NFL HC.

Rex Ryan has been working hard to get fired. HIs teams have gotten worse every year. And Woody Johnson has the cash, and he needs to make a splash..
If anyone can back the truck up to Saban's house, it is the Jets.

...this day in age is absolutely beyond me. If I were Chip Kelly, I'd be taking a look at the Chiefs before I'd take a look at Philly. This is a team 24 months removed from hosting a first-round playoff game, has a lot of those pieces still in place, and may just need a QB. I'd rather show up in KC as a package deal with Geno Smith and be in a division with the gutless Chargers, laughinstock Raiders and soon-to-be 37-year-old Peyton Manning than head to the NFC East to duke it out with the Giants and RG3 every year.
Nick Saban is a great coach and I'd hire him in a second to run my NFL team, but if he heads to Cleveland sans QB, it will be Dolphins redux for him.
