Buckeyes get new basketball court, DB is proud

Submitted by FabFiver5 on

Ohio State has released images of its new basketball court, set to debut next week. It even includes buckeye stickers at the corners.

Dave Brandon beams with pride as they've managed to plaster #GoBucks on the sideline. The only thing they're missing is a Twitter handle.

P.S. They can no longer be upset at us calling them Ohio since they now have then entire state at midcourt.

I always wondered why the Columbus and Ohio State hangs on to the Value City name so sentimentally, other than that the first store was in Columbus. It's actually more correct to say that Value City Furniture is the actual sponsor of the arena, and their parent company is actually now American Signature anyway. The Value City corporate brand technically does not exist as of 2008, I believe, much like the Buckeye football team's 2010 season (officially, for the most part anyway).

I had no idea Value City stores even existed in metro Detroit, I thought they were all in Lansing and Grand Rapids/West Michigan.  I remember VC stores in Lansing, when I was little.

Turns out, there are none in Lansing now.  Huh.

Our wrestlers down to canfield, Ohio for our wrestling tourney last weekend. The door to their wrestling room was a picture of the state finals with that arena hosting. I wondered out loud if high school state champs got free tattoos. That comment wasn't well received.

had a great court too last year but i think they got rid of it.  it had the forest and it was like looking up through the trees.

The new Crisler is nothing to sneeze at either

now all it's missing are #'s everywhere

I'm not a fan of our oversized navy blue Block M on our court.  Our official Block M is maize.  It would look better if the block M on our court was maize and a litter smaller, surrounded by a blue circle "basketball" or at least just a blue outline.

The best thing that Amaker did for UM was to create the classic and clean look that is and remains the UM basketball court.  DB will screw with that soon enough and trump up a quote from a player for the press release that they "really like the look of the new floor."

Who did they pay to design that? I think it's an ugly floor... and nothing says ohio sports like a cheap, janky furniture store like Value City. I'm embarrassed to live in the same state as it.

Its amazes me how news in Ohio gets to Michigan faster than I can find out about it. First the flip of Conley, then the story on Clarett, 11W spread on Rich Rod, Upset watch OSU & MSU then the basketball floor. I'm all for being objective and hating rivals, but I don't exactly care to follow Mgoblog if all the forums are centered around "the lastest news out of Ohio". There is plenty going on, on the other side of the fence.

As for the floor, personally I don't like. Stick with the regular harwood floor, OSU and B1G logo. No need to be fancy. In fact it reminds me of the Oregon floor just too much going on...
