Tradition do you really care? Or just used against rival fans?

Submitted by DirkMcGurk on

Ok we got the new uniforms and many have issue screaming tradition. I feel Michigan's tradition is first great academics, winning, winged helmet, block M and finally Maize & Blue. Many feel the uniforms are a tradition(though the away ones have changed many times before the past few years). My question and I ask for real honesty is if you really are about the tradition, or is it another point you make in an argument to be better then rival fans? Do you really care or just really care about winning the pissing contest?

Mod edit: Title changed. OP: If this doesn't capture what you're looking for go ahead and change my edit, but "Tradition" isn't descriptive enough. JGB.

Volume is important, yes, but if you can't generate enough pressure then it will be like a hose without your thumb over it.  You have to take into account the size of the reservoir, surcharge applied to the reservoir and energy losses throughout the cycle such as friction.  Also, there is the angle and air resistance.

Before you make a simplistic statement about volume being the key, you should look through your fluid mechanics textbook.

What are you trying to get out of this thread? Serious question. Because as it is now, this just seems like you are trying to cause a flamewar. There are going to be a lot of different, very strong opinions and this is just one more thread.

I'm on a blog.  About Michigan sports.  And that video is related directly to my stated purpose.  If you found the video in bad taste then that is due to YOUR projections, NOT any insinuation of mine. One had nothing to do with the other... that is, until you made it so.  If that were always the case, there really isn't anything that anyone couldn't find subjectively distasteful.

Your post was in response to a troll and WAY off topic. In that light the guy can feel free to make his off topic post. However, going forward please put OT in the subject

My post was to implore the powers that be not to give "weapons" (i.e. the power to post) to "monkeys" (I'll let you fill this one in), so as to avoid unknowingly "shooting" (writing posts that do nothing but inflame the masses) the blog to shit.

And by the way, lighten up, Francis.

It was a serious question. When talking to many people I get the feeling that fans just like a team to be on the winning side or to shove it in other fans faces. I often feel when fans can't use winning to shove it in rival fans faces they pull the tradition card. I really was interested in if people are passionate about Michigan or is tradition the card played during lean years.

Flame wars are created by those who can't just ignore threads. I read plenty of thread titles and never click to read them. Some people need attention. My thread was made with a genuine interest. Then the kids come and play because they need to be seen and given attention and Damn it me typing this is doing just that CRAP!! Well I typed it now I must post it.

1.) Use the "old embed code". Copy and paste after switching to "plain text editor".

It will look like this:

<Embed><object width="560" height="315"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/JFhT0wFa8B8?hl=en_US&amp;version=3&amp;"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/JFhT0wFa8B8?hl=en_US&amp;version=3&amp;" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width="560" height="315" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true"></embed></object>

2.) Add the point you want in seconds (Min*60 + sec) after the URL and typing "&start=" (example above was 157)

New code looks like this (bolded):

<Embed><object width="560" height="315"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/JFhT0wFa8B8?hl=en_US&amp;version=3&amp;start=157"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/JFhT0wFa8B8?hl=en_US&amp;version=3&amp;start=157" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width="560" height="315" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true"></embed></object>

3.) ???

4.) Profit

I actually don't do it the same way as the other poster suggested. In case his/her method doesn't work, here's what I do:

In the embed code, find the URL to the video. Append "#t=Xs" to the end of the URL in the embed code, in which X is the number of seconds from the beginning that you want the video to start.

Open the video you want. then select "Share." Then select "embed."

Below the imbed code are four boxes to check for different options. one of them is "Use old embed code."

Select that, and then copy and paste the code. Follow the instructions posted above to time stamp it.

1.  This is a terrible post.

2.  Yes, I care.  Yes, our uniforms are tradition.  Sure, our away jerseys have evolved over time, but they were tweaks, and they never changed within a season let alone 10ish times over the course of 2 years.

I'm not from the Midwest. I'm a student at Michigan, but that only means I encounter other Michigan fans. Really, the only contact I have with rival fans involves them posting on this blog. Consequently, I don't ever get into pissing contests of this nature (at least not with rival fans). And yet, I care about this stuff. Honest answer.

and a sweeter post!   you've combined all of the qualities of feces with all of the qualities of nothing to make for the rare crappy post about nothing.

To me have no tradition. Hell we used to wear all white unis. I would have issues with the home unis getting screwed with unless it was a tribute to the tradition/history of the program.

Well, I think we are the home team against SC, which means we chose to wear these as the home team, which means that these ARE our home uniforms for this game, which means that we've now screwed with the HOME UNIFORMS!!!!! AAAAAAHHHHHHH!!!!  EVERYONE PANIC!!!!

They can change the away jerseys all they want. I DO NOT want the home jerseys changed. They look amaizeing and always will. Don't ever change the home uniforms.
