Commits:
The entire 2013 recruiting class except: Patrick Kugler (in state championship game), Channing Stribling (took his official in November), and Ben Gedeon is a maybe.

Not Committed, Maybe Visiting:
Reon Dawson (CB) 2013 - Teammate of Mike McCray, currently committed to ILL.

I'm not sure if that's paywalled or not. If so, here's a list TTB:

Rivals lists Lacy and Hunt as NOT VISITING
December 13th, 2012 at 9:47 AM ^
Yes, which is why there are notes on there stating that they rescheduled.
December 13th, 2012 at 9:50 AM ^
Did you just update that a few minutes ago?
And you may know this, but is Conley completely off the board now? I see you still have him as visiting but Rivals didn't list him.
December 13th, 2012 at 9:52 AM ^
Nope, I updated it a couple days ago. When it was originally posted over the weekend, I had them listed as visiting. Then they rescheduled and I updated it.
I haven't heard that Conley is NOT coming. I don't know whether Rivals just assumes he isn't coming because he committed to OSU, but he was originally scheduled to visit, so I'm leaving him on there until I hear confirmation otherwise.
December 13th, 2012 at 9:39 AM ^
Couple Michigan Insider retweets today mentioned Sam had a gut feeling regarding David Dawson and D Green. Anyone hear this?
Huge weekend and a great opportunity for those already commited to bond.

Seriously, you picked that photo Farrell. And the "quickly becoming the most popular recruiting feature on the internet"?
But some interesting comments. ATM superceding Texas and Oklahoma comes as a surprise. I've seen rumblings of that but he flat-out states it. And USC get your filthy hands off Green.
December 13th, 2012 at 9:59 AM ^
From what I understand he's wanted to get back into the class for awhile, the coaches made him go through a process as they re-evaluated other players. Sounds like that process could come to an end this weekend.
With that said, if Dawson re-commits, how does that affect all of the other OL recruits?
I can't wait until some reporter tries to get detailed/inside info on the Dawson situation during the Signing Day Press Conference and Coach Hoke says "that's between our staff and David" and give the reporter some "bitch, I will slap you" look from the podium. Someone will ask, he absolutely will not answer.
December 13th, 2012 at 4:25 PM ^
in a couple of different places.
He seems intent on visting 'bama and tsio in Jan.
I'd be very surprised if he re-committed this weekend.
If Magnus says otherwise, I'll be very happy and take my ball and play in a different sandbox for the rest of the afternoon.
December 13th, 2012 at 4:48 PM ^
I don't say otherwise, but mainly because I've stopped really caring what Dawson does or doesn't say.
Dawson committed to U of M. Then he decommitted. He said he wanted to go far away from home, then he said he wanted to stay nearby. He said Wisconsin was high on his list, then they weren't. The whole thing that started this ordeal was a desire to visit Florida, and now they're not even mentioned as being an option. He tweeted about guys committing to Michigan, and then nobody committed to Michigan.
Anything Dawson says could totally be out the window in 24 hours, so it's anyone's guess on whether he'll actually visit Alabama, Ohio State, or even Michigan for that matter.
I obviously care about recruiting and can't say that I'm completely indifferent, but I'm not going to count on anything from him until he faxes in his letter (to some school or another) on National Signing Day. And, well, there might even be adventures after that... Who knows?
December 13th, 2012 at 5:03 PM ^
I agree - and I bet he commits. I bet the coaches sit him down, tell him about how badly a few other linemen would love this last OL spot, and even how they'd be cool with taking 4 OL if some of the other elite talent commits. Without saying as much, they'll let him know that if he takes officials and waits until late January to decide, Michigan won't be an option.
If he likes Michigan enough to beg the coaches for his offer back, I bet he jumps on it this weekend.
December 13th, 2012 at 12:00 PM ^
Because of how that formatted, I thought for a minute (a long minute) that Dawson was analyzing himself in 3rd person via twitter and the likelihood that he will re-commit
December 13th, 2012 at 9:53 AM ^
Aren't you too tall to run block at some point?
December 13th, 2012 at 9:55 AM ^
If he's listed at 6'10", he's probably 6'8" or 6'9".
But watching his highlights, I do think he struggles to get low, which is a big concern. There's a reason someone that huge is only a 3-star prospect...
December 13th, 2012 at 9:57 AM ^
But I think Shane Morris is much taller than Denard, so we'll need someone at least 6'10" to lift Shane up, like so...

PAD LEVEL ALERT!
December 13th, 2012 at 1:50 PM ^
Given Ward and LTT probably are OTs exclusively also - it'd be nice to have a guy like Schofield or Kalis who could feasibly play either OT or OG.
Not a huge concern, but I'd rather have a versatile 6'6 lineman who can play either position, or even a 6'4 guy who might be an OC than someone who is locked into a specific position.
December 13th, 2012 at 2:13 PM ^
December 13th, 2012 at 4:07 PM ^
Dawson (if he commits) could play multiple positions, too. He's listed in some places as a tackle, although I think he'll end up as an offensive guard.
December 13th, 2012 at 9:45 AM ^
You may know better, but do you think Lacy rescheduled because of Dawson? Meaning they may think Dawson will commit, which means they don't want to waste their time right now?
December 13th, 2012 at 9:50 AM ^
I don't really get the feeling that had much of an effect on Lacy rescheduling. I get the feeling that Lacy is only mildly interested in Michigan. Cameron Hunt is higher on Michigan than Lacy, I think.
December 13th, 2012 at 10:01 AM ^
...and others, should/when Dawson commits? Have you heard anything about taking 2 more OLmen?
December 13th, 2012 at 10:06 AM ^
TomVH seems to think there's a strong possibility that Michigan will take six, especially if Lewan leaves. I think that makes some sense, although I would want Michigan to take the best player available if that scholarship opens up. There's not a really strong need for a sixth OL.
December 13th, 2012 at 10:20 AM ^
I wonder how the timetable with the OTs will fit with Lewan's...if we take an OT (6th OL), it might be Signing Day.
As for Lewan, I spoke with someone with the team and they said it's painfully 50/50. I think he absolutely wants to stay, but a top 10 grade will be too much to pass up.
I can't imagine the Lions passing up on him with the kid at TAMU seemingly being the #1 OT off the board.
With all that said, I said this a couple weeks ago --- this game vs. S. Carolina is going to be somewhat telling IMO. He's going to battle an NFL level DE for an entire game. He'll see exactly where he's at and every scout will too.
At the beginning of the year I thought Fitz was gone if he was a 3rd round pick or better and Lewan would return - after a Trey Burke like scare. Fitz is obviously coming back, but I think Lewan will have to go unless Clowney goes to town (which I don't see happening).
December 13th, 2012 at 10:27 AM ^
Two first round picks and LT is the most significant need on the team.
December 13th, 2012 at 10:54 AM ^
I don't know about that. The Rams really like Rodger Saffold at LT, he's just been hurt for a good portion of the year. That team desperatly needs help at the offensive skill positions, so I'd expect to see them go that route.
December 13th, 2012 at 11:04 AM ^
Did you miss last year's draft? I cannot see the Rams using a first round pick on this year's weak skill position crop, especially given Quick, Givens and Daryl Richardson. The Rams biggest problem for the last two years has been keeping Bradford upright. Right or left, tackle is their number one priority.
December 13th, 2012 at 11:15 AM ^
I think Lewan will probably announce shortly after the bowl, which should let Lacy/Hunt know the deal before their January visits.

Couldn't be more 50/50 than it is with Taylor. I'm not sure he's going to even remotely think about it until after the game. He doesn't need to and the game will be pretty telling.
December 13th, 2012 at 11:44 AM ^
December 13th, 2012 at 10:55 AM ^
I would take Hunt even if Dawson returns to this class, what can I say, call me a fan of the "barge" formation... you can kick field goals and run inside zone!
December 13th, 2012 at 11:33 AM ^
expressed displeasure when our long snapper committed because they thought he was a 6th OL. They were all told there would be only five. In my opinion, that does not change regardless of Taylor's decision.
December 13th, 2012 at 11:40 AM ^
Situations change, and the coaches can't help that. Iowa might tell running backs that they only want two, but when 3 guys on the roster get career-ending injuries and 3 guys transfer, they obviously need more running backs.
What was true back on February 18, 2012, won't necessarily still be true in January 2013. That's the way life goes.

December 13th, 2012 at 11:51 AM ^
It doesn't necessarily mean you NEED another lineman, but it does open up a scholarship. There aren't really any glaring recruiting needs at this point, and with a couple offensive linemen interested, that position makes as much sense as any. The coaches told Morris they would only take 1 QB, they told Gedeon/McCray they would only take 2 LB, etc. You either leave the scholarship open or you take a guy at a position that you've already said is "full" (or you stretch for a WR since Treadwell passed on you, quite possibly wasting a scholarship altogether).
Michigan's in a mode where they can take the best player available. I think Cameron Hunt, for example, might fit that description.
December 13th, 2012 at 11:57 AM ^
December 13th, 2012 at 4:50 PM ^
It's not automatic.
Let me put it this way: If Lewan and all the other linemen are returning, I would be very surprised if Michigan takes six offensive linemen.

Yeah I went to the page and couldn't find it. Man am I terrible at finding obvious links on webpages. It's only when I really want info. Anyways, thanks for the help. I am not trying to be lazy when I ask these things.

Yeah, he visited for the Northwestern game and was rumored to be close to committing at the time.

Eh, I'm not super excited about Marshall. He's a decent player, but he doesn't really look like a kid who might normally be offered 14 or 15 months before National Signing Day. If he weren't in Michigan's back yard, I kind of doubt he would have been offered this early.
I think he's a Michigan-caliber player (maybe not a star), but I hope that Michigan can reel in a truly elite kid to go along with him if he commits.
