Leaders And Best

Haydar (Arkansas player) tried to draw a charge at midcourt during Arkansas press and was called for a blocking foul in the 2nd half when Michigan was beginning to pull away. The kid laid on the floor for effect or disappointment as there was no injury on the play.

If you do watch the game on a replay, I think the clock in the background reads 5:24, and the play-by-play supports this:

Very late-arriving (all over), and in the case of the upper-deck students, often not arriving at all.

I know, it was a noon game, shortly before finals, blah blah blah (though I don't know how that excuses the alumni who waltzed in late) . . . for a top 5 team it was disappointing.

I'm sure it will be brutal.  It won't matter against Binghamton, but everyone - alumni and students alike - needs to get it together by the Big Ten season.  Our homecourt advantage yesterday was pretty minimal.  We can't afford that against better competition.

Made me. Actually ask the ticket people how there aren't tickets for sale when 4 sections were 4/5th's empty. She said it was all the student sections. They bought the tickets, but don't show. This for a noon game against Arkansas. It's embarrassing, and not fair to those who want to buy tickets (at full price) and actually go.

I took some pictures of the arena update, and took a picture of the empty sections. I'll see if I can post it later. It's embarrassing. After this and football, I'm off the line; we need to issue fewer student tickets.

The fact that the pom-poms were still sitting on those seats is a clear giveaway that they were never occupied all game (so it wasn't a matter of people just moving down).

If the students aren't going to show up, there should be some program for them to at least donate them away.  There must be people out there willing to go.  A Final Four contender shouldn't have problems attracting fans.
