I went to the Outback Bowl a few years ago when it was NU and Auburn.  I bought a pair of lower level tickets from a guy for $15 right before the game.  Slipped into the NU student section and sat 4 rows up.

no joke its hoke

I have no idea why anyone buys tickets in advance. I've been to 3 bowls game, one was a NC game, and you can find tickets dirt cheap leading up to the game. Hell I had 2 extra tickets to the 05' NC game between USC/OU and couldn't sell them for $20 each.

For a second I was thinking I bought them prematurely and should have waited for the sale through the Michigan athletic department tomorrow morning. I scored two tickets in the first row basically about 30 seconds after they announced Michigan as the B1G team.

Tix should be pretty cheap on the street by gametime, or even on CL a day or two before the game.  The Outback Bowl is usually the "Major Disappointment Bowl" for fans of both schools.  A berth there usually means that a team looked like it had a good chance to win the conference when the season started, but things didn't go their way.

Since Florida isn't playing, I don't imagine we'll see the SEC team flood the stadium.  Also, there's no compelling storyline for Tampa Bay area residents showing up, other than having hatred for Steve Spurrier for leaving Florida and eventually kicking Jefferson High QB Stephen Garcia off of his team.  In other words, the locals don't like Spurrier enough to show up, they don't hate him enough to show up, there's no local rooting interest, and there's no other storyline.

My guess is at least 10,000 empty seats, and plenty of scalpers taking baths outside of the stadium.

As soon as Michigan was locked into the game I bought tickets on ticketmaster for $75/ticket + fees.  I'll be visiting my parents in Tampa then so it's a win-win as all I had to do was get tickets to see the team.  I am going to look at the tickets that I can get through the Alumni Association though as I'm in the corner of the endzone (section 102) and would like to try to move closer to the 50.

The Outback Bowl NEVER sells out.  Never has.  That's why they have the mega-high-school-band halftime shows every year so they can fill up about a few thousand seats in the upper decks, and maybe sell some tickets to their families, too.  Only problem is a lot of them usually bail after darling Jack/Jill perform at halftime.

Translation:  This really isn't a hot ticket, it's not worth tearing your hair out to pay full price lest you get shut out.
