OT: Who are wanting to win the NCG?

Submitted by B1G_Fan on

Pull for the Domers or pull for the SEC..... either way you feel tainted and dirty at the end of the day. After watching Gameday this morning and hearing all the SEC fans cheering SEC and overated to Brian Kelly, I decided if Georgia lost I'd be going for Notre Dame.

Alabama looks far from the unbeatable juggernaut most of the country deemed them to be by midseason. They look just as flawed as Notre Dame. I think it all comes down to whos fans can you put up with and I believe I can take Notre Dame fans for 1 year more than than I can take SEC fans for another year

One of my life's goals is the die while Michigan is still the leader in all time wins. That alone makes me want Bama to win.

The ideal ending would be if ND is up by two with 1 second to go. Bama sets up for the championship winning field goal. Just before the ball is snapped Brian Kelly calls time out. The kick is made and misses.

The do it over again and the Bama field goal is good and Kelly's face explodes. Suck it ND.

My other half grew up loving ND like I love Michigan. My 9 year old now defies me to say "go Irish." I have told her since she cold speak that she came out of me, and that is NOT allowed...yet, she roots for them (equally so for Michigan). So, I do love my kids more than Michigan, so i dont get as vocal with my feelings towards ND. but, I will say here, and nowhere else...

Roll Tide.

Looks to me that the Mayans are going to win as their calendar correctly predicted the end of the world in 2012 before any championship football game could be played!

By the way, if you are going to phrase this "Who are wanting to win ncg?", guess you must favor Alabama, since this is how about 99% of their fans would say it.......

I hope the game lasts 0-0 until next season.

I'll get to watch college football all offseason, no one will win, and I'm sure they'll be exhausted going into 2013.

Yes the media is up the SEC's ass, but it's only been really for the last 7 to 8 years. They have been up Notre Dame's ass since the 1920s. I just don't want more coal added to that fire. How many national championships throughout history were they given by the AP just because they were Notre Dame...

1) Want an historic blowout 63-3

2) Want ND exposed as an overrated team

3) Want Kelly to freak out

4) Want such an embarrassing performance and coaching response that it hurts them in future recruiting

5) Want them back where they belong.  Irrelevant

Roll Tide. I don't know when Brian Kelly is more unlikeable: when he's filled with purple-faced rage, or when he's calm and controlled (with the purple rage just bubbling under the surface).

Living in the heart of Tide country, I consider them the second most insufferable fan base in the country to the team they are playing. I had friends say last night that Gary Danielson is biased against Bama. (He is so far up Saban's ass he can see the bottom of Paul Finebaum's shoes.) However, my daughter went there and I hate Notre Dame. Roll Tide. That hurts.

Alabama.  I'm used to the SEC's (admittedly deserved) superiority complex.  Given that my proximity to SEC fans is significantly lower than the myriad of Notre Dame fans (which include most of my family), I have to pull for Alabama in this one.

Notre Dame winning would be insuffrable for me, while the SEC winning would be a huge "meh".

The only upside I see to Notre Dame winning is that they will be highly ranked when they come to Ann Arbor in week 2, and it'd make it all the sweeter when we knock them off.

I don't like Alabama. I don't like anything south of Toledo. I don't like Nick Saban. I don't like greyshirting and oversigning. I don't like ESPN. I don't like SEC propaganda.

But i like Brian Kelly and Notre Dame a helluva lot less than any of those things. To Hell with Notre Dame.

I'll take ND because they don't cheat, while Bama is one of the four most prolific cheaters in college football.  ND has their flaws, and are our rival, but Bama just buys players and dares the NCAA to do anything about it.

Besides, an arrogant, entitled, defending National Champion ND strutting into the Big House next September, only to lose another game to Michigan in the closing minutes, would be a lot of fun to watch.  It would also help Michigan in the rankings.

Like pretty much everyone here, despite my hate of Saban and the SEC, I'll be damned if the domers and their uninformed, obnoxious fanbase get a national championship to live off of for the next 20 years.

I'm so freaking sick of the SEC and Bama in particular that, with a very, very small list of exceptions, I would be cheering for whoever was playing them in the championship game. So, sad to say, go Irish.

I'm cheering for Alabama. No question in my mind. Not that any of you give a shit about my reasons but here they are:

1. Recruiting. A National Champion ND does nothing but hurt us in recruiting. A Bama win doesn't affect us as much.

2. ND fans are getting way too cocky and Lou Holtz is tempting me to break my TV everytime I see him on ESPN. This will be their reality check.

3. Even though ND is deserving of a chance to win the championship...I don't think they are a national championship team in any way. They may be the luckiest or most fortunate team in the country over the past decade. This sounds like sour grapes, but they could be 8-4 right now with not too much trouble.

I have no idea how this game will go, but I'm willing to bet that Bama wins by 14 points minimum. Something like 28-10 final.

I hate the SEC's pay for players, oversigning and overall dirty programs, in particular Nick Saban who is the ring leader and who publicly complains about SEC schools not being given a chance to play in the national title game even when they already have one locked in.

That's why it pains me to be rooting for them in the title game.  It's going to suck but it will be for the greater good.  An SEC team's hype won't get the hype of a Notre Dame team.  You can beat 3 cupcakes in a row and the media won't bat an eye.  But if you're Notre Dame and you beat 3 cupcakes in a row, you've done something incredibly special.  And if you go into triple overtime against a shitty Pitt team and you get 3 bogus calls in your favor (and the ref misses a ND player punching a Pitt player) then you're referred to as a team of destiny.

Fuck Notre Dame.  Fuck their fans.  Fuck Brian Kelly and fuck the media for drooling over anything they do.

But ND had the same season we did except we didn't luck out against MSU or Iowa like they did this year. It's crazy because we can have stumbled into the MNC last year like they did this year. I hate BAMA and the SEC chants, it feels dirty but Go Irish

Notre Dame ranks second on my list of most hated schools (behind Ohio but slightly ahead of MSU).  Besides, Alabama winning makes me feel a little better about getting trounced by them in Dallas.  If Notre Dame wins then it just reminds me that we could have beat them if we had just taken care of the football.

Alabama soundly pounding ND into submission. This wills shut up the golden doomers and all there return to glory hoopla. Then sit back and watch as Bama gets NCAA'd for multiple infraction and have to vacate multiple championships leaving 2012 with no champion. Then Michigan rides into 2013 on the shoulders of a 5* QB and a suffocating Mattison D to dismantle all comers in route to a BCS c Championship. Then all will be right.

I'm waiting until after all the rest of the bowls are done. If by some miracle the majority of the sec teams lose, I will root for Notre Dame. If they win it may shut the sec crap up for good.

You must always root against ND, no matter the circumstance.

We get a lot of mileage out of the "Winningest Program of all Time" theme.  It's even painted on our Football equipment truck.  We can declare it unambiguously in terms of both wins and winning percentage.

Notre Dame is catching back up to us on winning percentage.  They could go undefeated and we could have 5 losses.  With their future ACC-lite schedule, they could catch up to us soon.

So fellas.  If by some minor miracle ND pulls it out.  What will be the excuse then?

I just don't get the over rated deal.  ND has had 10 touchdowns scored against them all year.  That is hard to do no matter who you are.  I'll give you that the offense is a little lack luster, but Kelly has a run a game plan in every game to run the ball and control the clock.

ND Offense: 202 ypg rushing.  220 ypg passing.

ND Defense: 92 ypg rushing.  194 ypg passing.

#1 in scoring defense. 2 Rushing TDs all year, 10 total TDs.

Take ND, the -9 and the under.  And get rich.
