First Saturday Without M Football...How Are You Coping?

Submitted by Louie C on
I'm working today, so the withdrawal won't be as severe. It's funny how we spend months eagerly anticipating the start of the season, yet it seems to go by within the blink of an eye.

Watching as many of the games as I can. I like college ball more than the pro's so trying to get my fill in before it's done. Also got the M basketball team on later so there's that.

By watching other teams with fewer all time wins.  It's inferior football.  I mean there are no wings on any helmuts.  How am I supposed to watch football without wings on the helmuts?

and I are going Christmas shopping, and hit Rochster Mills Brewery for dinner & brews later.

Supposedly the downtown area has an impressive lights display too.

Have a GREAT weekend everyone.

until we got home, but that's exactly what we did.  They also had a street blocked off of main with a bunch of tent vendors, and Rochester Mills was on the end.  Grabbed a couple more Cornerstone IPAs for the walk.  Great times, and indeed the lights are beyond impressive.  I recommend this for anyone...the lights come up at 6PM.

It was okay, but the meat tasted like it had gone stale, even though I froze it on Friday. Definitely tasted rotten on Tuesday when I had it for lunch. Think that the toxins produced by the bacteria were in full effect.

...I use andouille sausage for this when I'm REALLY serious about making it, but with Thanksgiving being within the week, you make considerations.

Having said that, turkey is A LOT more bland than andouille...which means I need to compensate.  So I added two tablespoons of Mrs. Renfro's ghost pepper salsa in addition to the normal spice/hot suace regimen.

Yeah, I've been drinking.

It won't hit me until I see Nebraska take the field against Wisconsin.  Then for the next 3 hours, I will not be able to turn off that jilted-lover voice in my head that keeps saying "It should have been us.  It should have been us.  It should have been us."

This is the same voice that kept saying "We should have used Denard with Devin more.  We should have used Denard with Devin more.  We should have used Denard with Devin more." for 3 straight days after the Ohio State game.

*Sigh*   What could have been.  It's just like some astute observers were predicting at the start of the season . . . we'll have a better team in 2012 than 2011, but we'll have a worse record.

I am not going to go so far as to say I am not upset that football season is (basically) over, but I have come up with some positives:

- Less of an excuse to destroy my body with alcohol on a weekly basis.

- Easier to get homework/work work done.

-Yeah...

... I give up; this sucks!

Depressed. Because the Capitol One Bowl will be the last game until I go to college to play, so I will miss most of the games.

Sad day, man. :(

sigh.....denard, go out of bounds. you do that, you don't get injured, you stay in the game, and the outcome would likely be a win. hence, big ten title. hence, rose bowl.

I've had Makers Mark, Knobb Creek, Bulleit and of course Jim Beam and Jack...Wasn't too crazy bout Bulleit though. I have yet to try Woodford Reserve though...but every review i've read said nothing but good things so I know I won't be disappointed. Lately i've been drinking Buffalo Trace, next on the list is Russell's Reserve. Bookers is also another on my list.

Woodford is my favorite.  It's a little more expensive than the Beams, Makers, Knob Creeks, but I think you can taste that difference.  Even better I think it's better than a lot of higher end bourbons, such a Bulleit, Blantons, etc.  For my money, Woodford is the best value you can get in a bourbon.  Recommended.
