Official Root Against ND Thread
I'm so sick of the media falling all over the Irish. I certainly would rather not hear about them every day for the next month.
Can a freshman QB lead the Trojans to a win? Does Marquise Lee make a Heisman statement tonight? Does the complete sham of ND's undefeated season come to an end tonight? Is it wrong for me to want ND's fans to feel the kind of sadness I feel after The Game today?
NO BORGES TALK IN THIS THREAD PLZ

Count me in. Hate ND almost as much as ohio.

About Borges play calling today.... (Just kidding). Should be interesting to watch the freshman work against a pretty talented defense. But the frosh is at home at ND is under a lot of pressure.

I hope Lane does his thing and run up a score on hapless Irish.

A USC win will definitely aid my healing process

Dear Trojans, please save me from these puffed out chests, these Facebook statuses, these damn Irish fans
Thanks,
Josh

The Irish aren't as good as their ranking. And they've had a bunch of lucky breaks. But the Irish have survived a far more difficult schedule than OSU has. ND beat OU in Norman, for crissake. OSU and Nebraska beat nobody outside of Michigan.

... who I certainly am not watching the game with. Used to like Notre Dame growing up until I started associating with ND fans... drove the love right out of me and turned it into hate.

If ND loses, obvs the winner of SEC CG is in the NCG, but is there is still a chance Oregon could jump UF? I think so. A Stanford loss tonight would help because Oregon would then play in the PAC12 CG with another chance to impress the polls and computers. But this isn't looking good right now.
The computers had Oregon St (Oregon's victim today) ranked higher the FSU (Florida's). Also Florida is already 2 in the computers, so after ND loss they may go to 1 in the computers, but Oregon is in the 4-7 range, so losses by ND and Alabama/Georgia + a little better win today could mean that Oregon closes the computer gap on UF.
Wouldn't UF getting jumped be awesome!

who is helped or hurt by ND loss. It helps ME, so FUCK the Irish.
November 24th, 2012 at 9:05 PM ^
I see you're, shall i say, singularly focused. My point was that an ND loss doesn't necessarily mean all SEC NCG. So, it is not necessarily a heads I lose (all SEC NCG) vs. tails I lose bigger (ND in NCG).
November 24th, 2012 at 10:30 PM ^
I just really don't even care either way. ND loss is always great.
November 24th, 2012 at 8:21 PM ^
So this is a root for the SEC thread then? I'd rather have ND win than do that.
November 24th, 2012 at 8:20 PM ^
i don't know if i can go against ND. all season long i've pulled against them and hoped for them to lose, even as recently as last week when it was basically a 3-way tie at the top. BUT, now that it's this week and if ND loses it will in all likelihood be an all SEC NC game again, i'm more so pulling against that than a ND win.
i dislike brian kelly and basically the whole ND team but as a college football fan i have gained a lot of respect for Manti Te'o as a football player and as a human this season, so in a way i rationalize it that way i guess.
November 24th, 2012 at 8:22 PM ^
It makes me sick that there is discussion of OSU winning a share of the AP National Championship at the end of the season. Would a ND win tonight and in the BCS title game prevent this from happening?

Te'o looks like he may kill someone...

Seeing Lou Holtz flustered will redeem my evening a little
November 24th, 2012 at 8:29 PM ^
but then that sets up an all-SEC title game again.(UF-BAMA/UGA)
That sounds completely uninteresting.

Living in Florida and having to deal with insufferable UF fans I'm hoping the Irish win just so UF doesn't get in. I don't think ND can beat Bama or Georgia so them winning a championship isn't a fear of mine.
November 24th, 2012 at 10:36 PM ^
I feel your pain. Living in Tampa with tons of gator fans and married to a gator. Not something I want to hear about for the next month.
November 24th, 2012 at 8:24 PM ^
They'd have wins against Michigan, Stanford, at USC, at Oklahoma, at Michigan State.
The truth is that the pro-irish bias in the national media is almost nonexistent at this point. Yeah people have been talking about them all week, but they're unbeaten and No. 1 is the country, of course people are going say they're good.
This team wasn't even ranked in the preseason top 25
November 24th, 2012 at 9:02 PM ^
One of those teams has 6 losses, another will have 5. Those are not quality wins.

November 24th, 2012 at 11:05 PM ^
Stanford maybe. Oklahoma is not more than likely the Big12 champ. They lost to K-State at home. Have you watched OK the last couple weeks. That D is awful.
November 24th, 2012 at 10:52 PM ^
Bama beat LSU and michigan. Georgia beat Florida. Oregon beat basically no one. Kstate beat Oklahoma. ND won all their games and beat two likely Bcs teams
November 24th, 2012 at 8:26 PM ^
I just want to see Brian Kelly turn that shade of angry grape just once.
November 24th, 2012 at 8:28 PM ^
Sheesh. They are making Golson look like Joe Montana.
November 24th, 2012 at 8:30 PM ^
I'm not watching Florida play Bama or Georgia in the NC game and from the sounds of it Oregon is completely ruled out despite a loss to a top ten team. Go Irish.
November 24th, 2012 at 8:47 PM ^
November 24th, 2012 at 9:30 PM ^
Yeah, Oregon had something like 8 defensive players out for that game, and they still held Stanford in check on offense. Oregon and Stanford are the real deal, it's just that Stanford already got their shot at ND (an inredibly close and controversial shot at that) so they're out of the picture.

Yes this very much so, it will be so much better after they have been jerked off all month to be detroyed in a NC game. Im hoping ND wins a horrible game at USC then gets destroyed by Bama 52-0 in the NC. Lets see Holtz and Kelly after that one!
November 24th, 2012 at 8:31 PM ^
I hope ND wins, then there is no one talking about how the only undefeated team (Ohio) should be in the National Championship and the Sportscenter talks about it for the next month and a half. I hate when Ohio gets this much media attention and I would rather the media discuss how bad ND will get beat by Alabama, who made us look like children.
November 24th, 2012 at 8:42 PM ^

"Can a freshman QB lead the Trojans to a win?" - from the OP
It seemed evident from the Trojans' first drive that they might go run-heavy and challenge the ND front seven rather than try to make Wittek throw, although he did throw on a couple plays. If the Trojans do win, I have a feeling it might be on the backs of their RBs and, if Wittek can connect on some short screens, the odd WR.
That being said, the USC pass defense is not giving me a lot of confidence that they have an effective solution for Golson and Cierre Wood and Tyler Eifert, at least not right now.
