I guarantee he will find a way to play. I want them at full strength when we win.
November 24th, 2012 at 12:49 AM ^
why? we are not at full strength.
November 24th, 2012 at 12:49 AM ^
People always say this, and while the sentiment is admirable...I just want to win. If Simon can't go you won't find me saying, "It means less to me because John Simon didn't play in that game."
November 24th, 2012 at 1:49 AM ^
And absolutely nobody will remember or care who did or didn't play in the game a year from now.
November 24th, 2012 at 6:59 AM ^
Really? I'm sure that when we play Nebraska a year from now, two years from now... someone will say "We could have beaten them in '12 and gone to the Rose Bowl if Denard had played." Or how about '07 -- I still hear "we would have beaten Ohio if Henne's arm and Hart's leg had been right"
No team is ever completely 100%. You got to play with who is healthy and that is why depth is important. But, that doesn't mean people won't remember or care.

Come on, man. Our senior quarterback probably can't actually play quarterback and he can't block as a running back. And he just lost our best running back. I won't feel we stole anything at all walking out of there with a win.
EDIT: Almost forgot...BEAT OHIO!

Floyd would have been starting regardless of Countess's (SO MANY SSSSS) injury. Now if Smith beats Taylor deep, then you might have a point.

And I guarantee they won't be saying anything similar because Fitz isn't playing. Their team is their team, if they have the depth to account for the loss of Simon, then good for them. If he can't play, tough noogies.
November 24th, 2012 at 2:48 AM ^
We don't have our best pass defender in Countess, and we don't have Fitz. Needless to say, I wont mind if Simon misses out.

They are going to sit him out to save him for the Bowl game....good thinking urban.

Simon will be ready to play.
Nice try Urban.
Hayden Fry was better.

Yeah this has just been a ten minute train wreck. And here they go again, they get bombarded, and now are trying to storm back into the game. I used to think turnovers/streaky play was just a coincidental occurence when he was at Michigan, but this team has completely taken on that identity.

November 24th, 2012 at 1:39 AM ^
How are they ranked at 7-4? well now 7-5, the won't be i spose
November 24th, 2012 at 8:18 AM ^
Prior to yesterday (I'm not excluding their loss just to make a point; just excluding it because it's irrelevant to their pre-game ranking), they had played 11 total games: 6 of those were against teams currently ranked in the AP Top 25.
By contrast, we tout our own schedule as difficult, but we've only played against 3 teams currently in the Top 25 and we've lost all of them. Our best win is against Northwestern.
I'm not suggesting at all that Michigan isn't better than Arizona - I would take Michigan as 10-point favorites against Arizona on a neutral field after watching Arizona last night; just providing some comparison as to how ridiculous Arizona's schedule has been.
Arizona has two victories over Top 25 teams (Oklahoma St. and Washington) and their four losses are to teams ranked 5th, 8th, 15th, and 17th. Prior to yesterday, Arizona didn't have a loss to a team worse than them.
I'm actually impressed they were ranked - the voters rarely can look past the record of a 4-loss team to actually analyze their season as a whole; if there was any 7-4 team that deserved to be ranked, it was Arizona.
Of course, that all goes out the window now that they lost to their rivals at home and we are about to stomp our rivals on the road.
November 24th, 2012 at 9:04 AM ^
You're forgetting USC.
November 25th, 2012 at 7:28 PM ^
I was just including teams currently ranked in the Top 25 - I think looking at where teams were ranked at the time they played is a little misleading; wins over then-#10 Arkansas and then-#10 Michigan State should not be looked at as more impressive than a victory over formerly unranked Stanford, for example.
But yes, that was a victory over a team that was ranked in the Top 25 at the time that is worthy of mention.

November 24th, 2012 at 10:25 AM ^
They are not. But Stanford and Oregon are better than anyone in the Big Ten this year. And Oregon State and probably UCLA are legitimate Top 25. The top of the B1G is about to get better, but not this year.

His tattoo won't be fully-healed before game time.
November 24th, 2012 at 2:47 AM ^
The announcer said that Simon has been battling a shoulder injury all season, maybe a partial torn ligament? Simon opted to not have surgery, I think.
November 24th, 2012 at 9:52 AM ^
"Ohio opted not to allow Simon to have surgery until after THE GAME."
November 24th, 2012 at 10:31 AM ^
The announcer said that Simon had injured it towards to end of fall practice, so he had been playing through the pain up until then. I'm assuming that the same shoulder is still injured, and is the cause of these reports.
November 24th, 2012 at 2:01 AM ^
Beating Ohio at full strength is desired rather than not, Urban Legend would have to have to be beaten pretty bad for us to beat the $#!+ out of him...but I like him stirring the pot a little....great BB material....and yeah, I know we don't need it!
November 24th, 2012 at 3:55 AM ^
... much as it would make M's job easier. This guy is going to be a top draft pick for a reason and I'll believe he'll miss The Game an hour after it ends and he didn't play.

To the people who say "I want him to play cause I want to beat them at full strength" do you think Nebraska gives a flying fuck that Denard got knocked out of the game? Nope - they don't and neither should we if Simon is out. If he plays swell - good for him. I dont like seeing anybody get injured ever. But if he doesnt that will improve our chances to win and I care way more about that than I do any false sense of pride in the moral purity of the win.
November 24th, 2012 at 9:55 AM ^
IDGAF if Simon plays or not. I hate to see anyone get injured, but it's part of the game and we have our share too.
Screw Ohio...just beat the sh!t out of the man in front of you.

Everyone saying they would "rather play OSU at full strength" needs to get a grip. We're already missing our best CB, our best RB, and our best QB can't throw a football. I would welcome any injury on their side to even things up a bit.
November 24th, 2012 at 10:35 AM ^
Its a rivalry of sorts...
