OT: Thanksgiving Day Games Open Thread

Submitted by Jmilan on
Lions are already up 7-0 on the Texans. This should be a high scoring game IMO. Later at 4:25 the Redskins play the Cowboys At 8:20 the Patriots play at the Jets. In college at 7:30 TCU plays at Texas. Happy Thanksgiving and Go Blue and Go Lions.

Don't forget the Texas-TCU game. Gonna be weird watching the longhorns not play a&m on turkey day. Sad actually.

It's good to see Scheffler and Stafford on the same page early this game. I feel like if they were clicking together last week they would've beat GB.

Listening to these talking heads calling Suh dirty makes me sick.  He's a tough football player and that's it.  They are completely buying into the new wuss-ified NFL.  "Oh, that tackle looked mean.... $75,000!  Now do you want to buy this 'Ultimate Hits' video from NFL.com?  It's only $19.99!"

Let me guess... west side of the state... Packers fan?

Oh, nevermind, from Indy so a Colts fan.  What the new NFL rules (which HEAVILY favor offenses like yours) and hurt teams who actually like to play defense and tackle aren't being enforced even more to allow even more rediculous passing statistics?  Sorry, some fans still like to see smashmouth football, not a bunch of track-stars wearing "Wedding Dress White" uniforms prancing around the field trying to get 500 yards passing a game while missing 1/2 their tackles and trying to win games 48-42!

Are you actually trying to make the case that he's not dirty, given his history? There's a lot there to excuse. I agree with the point about the hypocrisy of the denunciation and glorification of violence by the networks and the NFL, but this is a different issue. Usually, when someone wins that players' vote of dirtiest player in the NFL, it's because they're ... a pretty dirty player.

Players' voted that Hines Ward was the league's dirtiest player for like 3/5 years for a period.  Why?  Because defensive players didn't like being put on their butts.  Same here, he's a dominate player who puts other players on their butts.  I doubt that crotch "kick" was intentional, he was being swung down to the ground at the time and would've had to have had amazing body control to do it intentionally.

Here's Jim Rome's take on Ward: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b9UVpEvuc4M

That's guys tickets need to be revoked. I've seen him the last few home games. We have no Superbowl rings to show off. This is almost as embarrassing as the playoff banner they have hanging at Ford Field. I love the Lions but dear lord.

I guess everyone assumes Suh has eyes in the back of his head seeing as his head was in the turf when his leg hit Schaubs crotch.... He has had some stupid plays in his career but this is not one of them, for that matter neither were any of the hits on Cutler. Ridiculous.

We all know Suh has made some dirty plays in his 3 year career, but half the plays they showed in that montage at the half were not dirty at all.  The media likes to pick on the guy a little too much IMO.

is one of the reasons I absolutely loathe the NFL. This wasn't a flukey call...it was WRITTEN IN THE RULEBOOK that way. How can you give a team a touchdown they didn't earn??? Unbelievable.

Why isn't anyone else calling Schwartz a dumbass? He gave the Texans that TD not the refs. How does an NFL coach not know the rules? Especially after a similar play happened last weekend in a different game.

Plain and simple Schwartz is an idiot and cost the Lions that TD.
