Michigan-cornell game at MSG Sat. to be simulcast on FSN Plus

Submitted by Wolverine Devotee on

While watching Michigan finally break the losing streak tonight, I was curious to see if any TV network I have picked up the Frozen Apple game at against cornell Saturday at Madison Square Garden. When the TV schedule was released, it was listed as not being televised.

However Fox Sports Detroit Plus (707 HD/901 SD on Comcast in Ann Arbor) will be picking up the game. Only thing is that it will be a simulcast from the MSG network. That most likely means there will be cornell homers announcing.

It's going to be a really fun game.  I'm a Cornell alum and Michigan Law alum (I was raised in a Michigan household, but I did adopt Cornell hockey while I was there - it was the only relevant sport we had).  I've been to the last 3 MSG thanksgiving games with Cornell vs. BU and they were all great.  The crowds are electric, there are always two good teams involved (although both teams are struggling a bit right now) and MSG is always a cool place to watch a hockey game.  Hopefully Michigan beats Ohio because otherwise half the arena may very well be in a funk most of the game.

As for the announcers, Bill Pidto called the game last year (I DVR'd it to watch later) and he's a Cornell alum, but he was far from a homer.  In fact, I don't think he had ever seen a Cornell hockey game - he didn't know the name of any of our players.

Anyway, if you're in the NYC area and can make it to the game I highly recommend it.  If you're watching on TV, have a happy Thanksgiving and enjoy.

And most importantly this weekend...Beat Ohio.

Maybe this will be like our GLI last year. We limped into the GLI game against BC and came out with a win, it was our turning point. Cornell is ranked #13, maybe this can be our shot.
