Chad Henne named Starter for Jaguars

Submitted by Marley Nowell on

Chad Henne was inserted as the QB for the second week in a row following a Blaine Gabbart injury.  He has already been named the starter for next week.  His stat line against the Texans was pretty great:

C/ATT YDS AVG TD INT SACKS QBR RTG
C. Henne 16/33 354 10.7 4 0 1-6 71.7

126.8

I always thought Henne had a chance to be a good starter in the right situation.  Gabbart hasn't exactly entrenched himself as the starter so its possible Henne could win the job outright at some point.  At the very least he should be able to put himself in a conversation for a starting job somewhere in the league.

That is awesome. I really hope he gets a chance somewhere in the league if not in Jacksonville after this season. As a Dolphins fan, I always thought that he was put in an offense that did not suit him at all. The Phins tried to turn him into Chad Pennington and then kept putting in Pat White to take snaps away and put him behind the sticks. Good luck to Chad.

I don't really think he got much of a quality chance in Miami. I think Sunday showed that he can be a quality QB in the league. I am no sure, but I don't think Gabbart has put up those kinds of numbers, and he did it against a quality defense in Houston.

If not Jacksonville, maybe someone will take a chance on him and let him truly compete for a startnig position next year.

'Course, Chad's problem always was that he was inconsistent.  Robo-Henne one day, Tacopants' best friend the next.  I still remember his first game against the Pats last year, where he put up something like 500 yards of total offense, and then flopped the next game.
