Denard Robinson

I had been in the desert for some time, lost and directionless. The sun was relentless. A deadly thirst stalked me. I had not accepted the grisly fate which awaited me but was powerless to change it.

On the fifth night—possibly the sixth—a breeze arose. It was cool and dewy. I savored it for a time, then step by step it led me home.

That's what I'll remember him for -- he came up huge in that game. Not everyone can leave as a star player, but he can leave knowing he made a couple big plays in one of the program's signature games during his four years. (Was a solid special-teamer, too.)

With Odoms gone and now w/Hawthorne and V. Smith graduating, I think Richard Ash will be the last of RichRod's Pahokee kids left on the team. I sure hope we keep a recruiting pipeline open to there -- guys like Odoms and Smith have been true Michigan Men on and off the field.

Demens is the guy

that I think of as better

than Obi Ezeh

The Northwestern tackle was cool, but I can't help but always remember Demens as the guy who came in with no experience whatsoever and was immediately better than the guy who'd been around forever and that we seemingly had no other choice but to play.

Man, it seems like just yesterday we were shitting ourselves over whether Campbell would stick or not.  Roh and Barnum can't possibly be seniors either.

Like the snow you took
back to Florida with you
unique but now gone

(Of all of the Denard things, the fact that he took a Ziploc bag of Michigan snow back to Florida with him after his recruiting visit remains my favorite.)

Going to respond in a haiku, but I just want to say, the worst part of being a college football fan is the end of a senior's stay on the team that we so love. Thanks for all the memories, good and bad. From Campbell playing his commit games and scaring us all, to omameh destroying t'eo to set denard free...thank you all. I will miss you all and hey...let's try to keep it together when we say goodbye to these Michigan men tomorrow!

Damn, tomorrow's gonna suck. They might not have had the storybook UM career, but damn if they haven't experienced everything you can experience as a College Football player

Sure, he won't be a first-round NFL draft choice, but saying we needed him to depart is a bit of a low blow.

So fitting to honor the "mis-fits" who stayed and handled the transition with 100% effort & class. His screen vs ND under the lights still gets a "what in the world ... Go, go ... YES!" from me. Thanks for the memories.

The senior Haiku post is always one of my favorites, but it's a real bummer to see Denard on the list. It's fair to call him one of the most exciting players in college football. Every snap, the ball is in his hands, and when there is open field ahead, I always stand up at attention, even at home. It's hard to see his Michigan career stall with injury, but he's already a legend here. Godspeed Mr. Robinson, Godspeed.

still wonder how things would have turned out if Martin redshirted his freshman year and was playing on this team.  In  addition, it is too bad Roh and BWC weren't redhirted their freshman year so they could be back next year to anchor the line.  I still cringe when I think about BWC burning his redshirt on the extra point team.
