Love it, stretches the lineup and instantly upgrades the defense. The Tigers became a better baseball team today and the alternatives in right field weren't all that overwhelming. Garcia will be good but this gives him more time in Toledo to work on some extra base power.

V-Mart will  provide a good bat when he comes back to replace Delmon.  I would have liked to see them get in on the Marlins firesale and try to get Giancarlo Stanton.  He's a good, young up and coming outfileder who hit 37 HRs in 123 games last season.

Hunter is pretty much the best-case scenario, given their options. Good bat. Great glove. Great leader. Two-year contract. Put him in left. Right goes to the best guy out of Dirks/Boesch/Garcia. Done.

We'll have a good defensive OF no matter what. He doesn't need a career year to be a valuable offensive addition in his assumed 2nd spot in the order, but he may have a career year because he's going to see a helluva lot of pitches to hit given the three guys behind him. Two years is a good length, at at that length, the salary isn't really a consideration.

Bonus for Hunter being known as a mentoring player and the Tigers have two young outfielders on their way up to the Show that will be around for Spring Training and likely to get callups ... and there's Berry who i imagine will be kept for the bench.

Ilitch spends and DD puts another piece into the puzzle. I assume we don't see Sanchez back, and that we don't sign a starting pitcher (for the same reason that Sanchez can be asking for such sums). But i do expect a bullpen addition and that's probably it.

All of the media rumblings is that Sanchez isn't out of the mix. Personally, if they are serious, I wouldn't mind the signing, but I think you need to get Smyly into the rotation. I think he is ready and they really need a lefty in there. If they pull the trigger, they might move Porcello. Decent back of the rotation guy, but he isn't a top two which they originally pegged him to be.

Regardless, their depth in the rotation is pretty thin. If they suffer a big injury to a starter, they will be forced to either make a move or rely on a minor-leaguer, none of which have shined when given the chance.

I wouldn't go over 80 million for Sanchez. That probably won't cut it for him. He is asking 90-100 million.

If they can't re-sign Sanchez they should insert Smyly into the 4 spot and and look to fill the 5 with some one other than Porcello.

In my eyes they should trade Porcello while he still has good/okay value.

Not worth to spend on any of them. Bruce Rondon is highly regarded by the Tigers and you can't count out the guys they have. Coke closed big games in the playoffs and they have other options.

A guy they should sign is Ryan Madson. He is coming off Tommy John. But would be a high risk/reward signing. He closed games in Phily and would add to the back end if healthy.

Plus, he is a Boras client.

While not the defensive player he once was, a nice pick-up.  Gives that outfield some range and should be a nice addition to the offense as well.  That 1-5 is going to be scary.

Nice signing, but on a related note, I question if Martinez will be the same. Severe injury and he's not a youngster.
