That was completely classless.  Northwestern walks on the field, Michigan should shake hands with them.  It is okay to run on the field after the Demens stop, but immediately you should shake hands.  Then, when Northwestern heads to the locker room, you can run to be with the fellow students.  I expected more and expect more from Michigan.  I am sure Brady or Kovacs will address that.

I completely agree. A Michigan Man always offers a hearty handshake before commencing a celebration.

To do otherwise is to fail to comport with the ethos of The Michigan Difference.

These kids need to follow the examples set by their elders

Honestly, what was your first reaction after Demon's hit?  "Oh shit, we won the game!"  Or "That was a great game, I hope everyone congratulates the other team because I don't feel like celebrating."  I'm willing to bet that the first thing on your mind wasn't that you should give Northwestern it's due respect because it was a good game.

Give the kids a break.  It was a huge play to end a pretty emotional game filled with it's ups and downs.  It's not like this play happened with a minute left to give Michigan the ball back to run out the clock.  It was the last play of OT after a hail mary pass to get them there.

Now, if Michigan did stop NW with a minute left and run down the clock then ran around the field like chickens with their heads cut off instead of shaking the NW team's hands.  Then yes, that would be pretty damn disrespectful.

but I don't agree with it. You can storm the field and celebrate with your teammates, then shake hands with the opponent and then go cheer with the fans. If you watch the tape, you see some UM players running toward the students even before their teammates reach the field. It is as if they want to be the first to get there so that they can get a seat on the wall.

because it was played before the team ran onto the field before every game last year as well as many other times. It is well-hated and people protested enough about it that it has been mostly phased out. It has been played only at a few games this year.

For the record, about 10 years ago, I saw Pop Evil at Flanagan's in GR; they played some great covers and were actually a pretty good time. I was generally pretty proud that a local group was seeing some relative success, until I heard what a poor man's Nickleback they had become. Then I saw a recent picture of them and was shocked. Ick. Now that they've polluted our sacred Big House with their shlock-rock, they have become my mortal enemies.

Oh, and good Lord does seven nation army make me want to punch a baby.

Of course I had never suggested "no celebrations."

What I'd have liked was a handshake, a hug, with the high-quality representatives of one of the finest schools in the midwest.  Like Michigan was actually used to beating Northwestern.  And then a crazy-assed party in the north endzone.

Michigan won't get far, with a reputation of being a "Michigan State, 'cept with a much better winning percentage."  Michigan should be qualitatively above the rest.

And yes, credit again to Jordan Kovacs who was a 100% class act at the end.  He is one of two pairs of tiny maize pants seen streaking back to the Northwestern team to give a handshake.  Don't know the other pair, which sort of seemd headed to another Michigan player.
