Semi OT: Tennessee loses to Missouri
Tennessee has lost to Missouri 48-51 to remain winless in SEC play. Tennessee is now 4-6 with the final two games being @Vandy and vs Kentucky. They must win both to go to a bowl game. This is only SemiOT thanks to the relevance in the Derrick Green Sweepstakes. Dooley is now another step closer to a pink slip, or should I say, an orange slip.
This means that we could see two teams Michigan is competing with most for Derrick Green, both not go to bowl games and fire their coaching staffs.

I'm having a hard time seeing Derek Dooley coaching there next year, but who knows. Aside from a high-octane offense and looking like Mike Florio from profootballtalk.com, I am not sure what else he has going for him.

High octane offense doesn't mean much when you can't win and your defense doesn't produce results. Case in point: Rich Rodriguez.

Without commenting on RR in particular, agreed.

i think with green it all comes down to Auburn,Michigan and Oregon.

Auburn is 2-7 and plays Georgia tonight. You gotta think Chin-Zik is gone there already. Especially after Bama crushes them.

There is a 0% chance Auburn fires Gene Chizik after this year. The offensive coordinator... maybe but to fire a head coach 2 years removed from a national championship / undefeated season would be a huge mistake.
November 10th, 2012 at 5:31 PM ^
Why? He was a terrible hire in the first place and was gifted Cam Newton. Everyone just came to the realization that he isnt a good coach when he doesn't have the best player in college football.
November 10th, 2012 at 5:32 PM ^
0% doesn't mean what you think it does.

Is chizik the worst coach to ever win a championship? I would say him or Larry Coker
November 10th, 2012 at 6:17 PM ^
Jimbo Fisher will be the new head coach at Auburn next season.
November 10th, 2012 at 6:59 PM ^
Why would he ever want to do that?
November 10th, 2012 at 5:37 PM ^
Aren't out of it...not sure how many scholarships ole miss has left but word is ndemchee (sp) sorry, butchered his spelling....the guy thought by many to be the nations top recruit is more than likely going to ole miss...couple that with treadwell interest? Something fishy is happening in ole miss.
November 10th, 2012 at 6:03 PM ^
Lets see if Ndemchee takes half his team to Ole Miss after making his previous team (Clemson?) take half of his teammates. Ole Miss can't oversign either, so there is that...

More like Derek Don'tley, amirite?!?
In all seriousness, I feel a little bad for Dooley, since I feel like he was thrust into an untenable situation after Tennesee whiffed on their main targets in the aftermath of the FULMER SITUATION, but this has been on the wall since he called out the team for Shower Problems.
November 10th, 2012 at 5:17 PM ^
Tennessee made three back to back horrible decisions. Can they recover?
November 10th, 2012 at 5:46 PM ^
Derek Doucheley? Really? Are we 13?
November 10th, 2012 at 5:21 PM ^
but it's even more tasty since Derek Dooley is a perfect example of somebody who's gotten a nice job solely on the basis of his family name. If you look at his resume, there is literally nothing on it that would indicate he was deserving of getting any BCS-level HC job, let alone a former power like Tennessee. His sole experience as a HC was three years at La Tech, where he compiled a sparkling record of 5-7, 8-5, 4-8. If his dad was an anonymous insurance salesman instead of Vince Dooley, his phone would never have gotten a single call from Knoxville.

Jerel Worthy's tattoo must have really pissed you off, huh

I wanna know how miami just popped into DG's top school list.
November 10th, 2012 at 5:30 PM ^
Not sure, but The U also lost to day to Virgina and fell to 5-5 on the season.
November 10th, 2012 at 6:51 PM ^
Nobody even attends Miami's home games.
November 10th, 2012 at 9:03 PM ^
infractions? Weren't there MAJOR issues, or did the NCAA decide to overlook those, too?
November 10th, 2012 at 5:29 PM ^
You always have the chance that The team in question hires an awesome head coach and players sign with the hype, like Urban Meyer last off season.
November 10th, 2012 at 5:32 PM ^
And replaced by Kiffin? Haha. My guess RR gets a few calls ths offseason.
November 10th, 2012 at 8:52 PM ^
Can't imagine that RR would voluntarily go to the SEC when he's got a couple big wins in year 1 in AZ and the PAC12 doesn't play defense.
November 10th, 2012 at 5:59 PM ^
Haven't liked Dooley since all that crap with DeAnthony Arnett transferring. I hope Dooley gets canned soon. Bring back some pride to Tennessee after the embarrassments that have been the Kiffin and Dooley eras.
November 10th, 2012 at 6:36 PM ^
If I said, the sec might ask tenn through bak channels to find a new conference. Would you call me crazy. Football been mediocre or worst, basketball imploding from knucklehead coach. Pat retires, probably means gball gonna decline. Their SB program is still solid but not the elite program in the sec anymore. What do they offer?
November 10th, 2012 at 9:10 PM ^
but your grammar is ATROCIOUS.
November 10th, 2012 at 6:38 PM ^
After reading the rivals article and his comments about one of the most important parts of his visit being "watching how they use their running backs." I am less confident. Hopefully he gets to see this week or last weeks offense. I know the coaches are likely telling him things will change, but I can see where that is a big risk to take for a kid coming out of high school.
November 10th, 2012 at 7:03 PM ^
I would be very curious to see what Dantonio could do at a program like Tennessee. Not that it will happen though.
November 10th, 2012 at 7:23 PM ^
Derek Dooley is so fired...
November 10th, 2012 at 8:00 PM ^
Please let it happen.
I'm hoping our recruiting class finsishes out Green, Treadwell, McQuay III and Tunsil.
November 10th, 2012 at 9:13 PM ^
that and our chances of closing the class with those four are about the same.
