I'm dying to hear from Brian and the Guys who run the site about the Freep Article
I'm sure you guys are putting the feet to the concrete to try to get more details and give a proper response but I'd be lying if I said I'm not itching to hear something from Brian and the rest of the site's writers about the allegations from the Free Press.
Boy I'm hoping for something to stem the tide of this one.

The Freep reported this when they did because they knew Brian was out with the guys at the Inkster vs Pioneer game ... figured he would be boozing with the guys ..sleep in until 11 and wouldnt be able to bury their ass until after noon.

which is why I come here every day. I value his perspective and his writing. But let's be honest, nothing Brian writes is going to either "stem the tide", or "blow this the "F" up. This shit will take on a life of it's own and won't stop until the inevitable investigation concludes that there was no mandatory enforcement of excessive hours. The M administration is very sensitive to this kind of article, and will not stonewall this story, or issue a blanket denial/statement of support, IMO. They at minimum will do their own investigation, which will keep this story alive whatever it's merits. And also, IMO, an internal investigation is warranted--I am not in any way giving credence to the story or believing the Freep, but when when you have current players quoted in the MSM in this way, I think their hands are tied--they have to look into it and should.

Some of the numbers I saw reported just seem to be impossible to believe and cast doubt in my mind about the whole story.
One statement was that Sunday practices were 11 (yes, 11) hours long. Huh? What the hell could a football player (or really any human being) be doing for that long?
Hopefully, Brian will delve into some of this.

It wasn't "Sunday practice." They (allegedly) had weight lifting, position meetings, team meetings, film review, and then practice.

When the "facts" provided are broken down and put into context (as Brian is great at doing), the readers of this site will know the real story.

watching a espn college show hosted by trey wingo. he and his co-host(sorry name alludes me) mentioned a ncaa 20hrs per wk for workouts and practices with coach contact. so if i have some of the "facts" right from the story. they were spending 10-12 hrs together just on sin. that doesn't leave much for later on in the wk to get ready for sat. does it. i kinda find the whole sun. thing kinda rediculous.

If players were expected to arrive by noon on Sunday, then I doubt there were too many 10 or 12 hour days on Sunday extending toward midnight.
The bigger deal in this allegation is going over the Sunday four hour limit. It depends on how the time was used. The 20 hour limit problem seems less of an issue because it will come down to how the time was spent and the total is reasonably close but they may have blown past the 4 hour Sunday (but again, depending how that time was spent).

So if someone was off by just 1 hour on the Sunday thing, that would put them at wait for it, wait for it... 20 hours, we have a winner.
I know for a fact, they spent a long time together on Sundays. But lets say it was 8 hours of mandatory coach time, and 4 hours on 3 other days. That puts them under the limit.
I dont think you could get 8 hours in one day, since tape, rehab and eating don't count. Say that stuff takes 2-3 hours, to get your 8 in you would have to be there over 11 hours to break any rule.
Film doesn't count even if a coach is there, if you go on your "own", walk troughs with no pads do not count, that is what they do Friday.

Are football players really complaining about going 1 - 4 hours over?
I know that's only part of their argument, but come on-- it's not like they're working 80 hrs/week. I don't want to liken our fan base to that of an SEC team's, but I could see them being completely flabbergasted by this.
