Again. With his legs. He is inept otherwise When you can't string together more than three or so basic throws, Borges can get no rhythm with play calling. Denard threw 1-2 interceptions the first 5 or 6 games of the year if I remember correctly... I hate bad mouthing Denard, but it is the blind faithful that almost forces me to point these things out. Denard is a great ambassador to Michigan and a great kid from what I've seen. But his QB play as a whole is not conducive to winning tough games aside from those we put out by living on a prayer (eg Notre Dame, MSU).

I think Gardner's biggest strength is that he understands down and distance...and knows how to just get first downs.

Not saying Denard doesn't, but I just think Gardner is better at saying "too risky, I'll pull it down or take my checkdown"

I don't think he was looking to get a first down on that last play, but pull it, and see what happens. If anything, he picks up 6 yards and we kick a FG.

Thomas Rawls seems to get things done with this offensive line.  Maybe he has better second-effort than Fitz?  The size difference is certainly a factor.  When the offensive line is shoddy, I think a little bigger, stronger runner can play more effectively.

I'm still amazed Rawls is not seeing more snaps. I know a lot of the poor RB play can be attributed to poor OL play, but I feel like he's getting more in the way of results than Fitz is.

We're going to be dominant very soon. The freshman and soph linebackers along with getting countess back on defense to go with the offensive line and skill position recruits and veterans are going to be really strong. Unreal

Wow, let's immediately start jumping to conclusions, no? Northwestern is a much better team than it gets credit for. Fitzgerald finds ways to win at a school that has no football culture, and most days of the week, a school that probably couldn't care less if its team wins or not. We should all have known that this wasn't going to be a team that would simply roll over when they came to play. This game, unfortunately, will likely come down to the wire.

That was a gorgeous back shoulder throw. Our defense has to know when he is in the game they're passing. I knew this game was going to be close but we can't allow a qb that ONLY passes to shred us.
