Slippery Rock Predictions?

Submitted by ThadMattasagoblin on

I say we win 83-66.  Slippery Rock is one of the best teams in D2 but we are one of the best teams in D1.

a well-seasoned team. But talent wins out, probably by 12-15 points.

EDIT: Profile of them now up at UMHoops; they just kicked Navy's behind in a preseason exhibition. Probably a nice right-sized challenge for the first game.

I agree a well seasoned team can be tough, but after all my scouting (reading the opponent preview below) and the fact that is a DII school, and the fact that Michigan is a really good D1 school, we should win by 20+

Not sure why everybody is saying Slippery Rock is one of the top teams in D2. They are picked to finish second in their division and at least 3rd or fourth in their conference. They aren't receiving votes in the top 25. LINK

Aside from that, Michigan rolls by 20.

New Crisler is awesome. The concourse is sweet (especially the waterfall), they now have an M Den shop inside, there's a tribute to Cazzie Russell on the wall, walking around in the place is great (the words to The Victors are on the ground as you go around as well). Hell, I was even excited about the bathrooms (they've even got the Dyson Airblades in there).

As far as this thread goes, we win big. We also put all second string in with about 10 minutes left in the 2nd half. They give up some extra points without scoring as much, 84-60.

Playing a pretty good team combined with the fact that we are still learning to play together and first game jitters I think it will be close early. However, our superior talent will allow us to run away with it 75-50.

If Michigan beat Slippery Rock anything less than 25 pts. Even though Slippery Rock is a good team for a D2 but it isn't the same as the Horror. Michigan should roll 85-48

As it is the first non-exhibition game of the year, I will predict a performance somewhere in the middle of the exhibition performances against Slippery Rock, so taking into consideration how the Rock did against Navy and how our opponents have done to date, my guess is 80-52 Michigan.

Did you guys read about how Stauskas broke the all-time 50 in 5 mins record for our coach? The dude hit 78 in 5 mins the first time he tried. Holly balls, that guy is a dead eye shooter. McGary will rule the world, GR will be our best player,  and our lineup isn't tiny anymore. Can't wait to follow this team - Go Blue!!!

I am going to predict McGary starts up front with Morgan and Vogrich comes off the bench.

Slippery Rock's strength is their frontcourt and they don't shoot the 3 well. Perfect opportunity for Beilein to go Big, especially with Horford demanding minutes in the frontcourt as well, and Stauskas being questionable with a bad back.
