I wouldn't be quick to make jokes about an inferior opponent. Remeber the last time a Michigan squad was preseason #5 and opened against a "lesser" team.

That is interesting with Levert. I didn't think he would RS. Great opportunity for him to hit the weight room and put on some lbs

Also interesting about Bielfeldt. I don't know how much I am buying into that one. Don't see many minutes coming Max's way, unless one of the other 3 bigs are injured. Of course Horford and McGary have battled injuries this season already, so I guess we just wait and see. That being said, I have full confidence in Max being able to contribute if given the opportunity

Baumgardner now has an article on LeVert: Michigan may redshirt freshman Caris LeVert, but decision isn't set in stone

As the article points out, given the logjam at the 2 and 3 positions (Stauskas, Vogrich, Hardaway, Robinson), how many minutes is LeVert likely to see anyway? It sounds like barring any injuries, he'll redshirt:

"I do not expect him to play (Friday vs. Slippery Rock," Beilein said. "He'll dress, but if there's five minutes to go and we're either down or up by 20, he's not going into the game.

"(I'm going to preserve his redshirt) as long as I can, and really make an educated decision after some time and really give us some quality time to work with him. It can backfire on you, but most times you do that when you really think (someone) can be a special player with more time and more weight."

Not to nitpick, but it is stauskas. Hopefully he doesn't miss anytime...these early games are crucial for us to continue to fine tune rotations and build on court chemistry. Also, beilein mentioned that he wouldn't be surprised if Slippery Rock contends for the DII title this year.

I mean spelling someone's name wrong really is not on the same level as not capitalizing it. I wasn't trying to be a dick...just pointing out how his name is spelled since it was being used in the title of the thread. No need to get your panties in bundle. Also, after your helpful critique of my capitalization abilities, I decided to educate myself on all the nuances of capitalizing words. Thank you...hopefully I become a better person because of it.

Anyone have any idea why basketball coaches are more likely to disclose injuries like this to the media than football coaches?  Does it have to do with the physicalness of Football as Basketball?  Lower stakes in the regular season?

Well for one thing, the media contributes largely to the national perception of each program and when they become offended by these practices they tend to voice their opinions, rightly or wrongly.

They spent a lot of time talking about this on BTN last night and one thing that Pat Forde said about the issue stood out to me.  You have coaches at their introductory press conference and all throughout their availability stating how they are all about integrity and how their main goal above all else is to teach their young men integrity.  And then they come out and lie or mislead about something as inconsequential as an injury report.

It's all about perception these days with regards to football coaches.  Look at Chizik right now.  As we know, negative perception can tank a program.

He doesn't look that hurt. I had that same injury, and I TOTALLY would have kept playing. If Denard doesn't play, It means he has GIVEN UP and is NOT ALL IN FOR MICHIGAN. LEADERSHIP!!!!!!

/What happened? I blacked out.
