Polls are out
Texas still rolling top 25 after barely beating Kansas. ND holding tight at 4, which will be an interesting thing to watch down the line.
edit: anyone know where we can see some of the results of that poll/contest we did at the beginning of the year? Pick 1 team top 5, 1 team ranked 5-10...etc...

I'm surprised that they moved up that much, but then again, they only have two losses.
Can't believe we have to root for Sparty this week.

I will not admit to wanting State to win, just that Nebraska needs to lose. They can brag all they want about beating a team that beat us as long as we are in the title game. Let them have the small victories.
October 28th, 2012 at 2:09 PM ^
but they are the blackshirts again after stopping a freshman QB, so they deserve it right?
October 28th, 2012 at 1:01 PM ^
Ok I'll bite: we have lost to #1, #4, and with our third string quarterback. Does anyone really belive we aren't one of the 25 best teams?

October 28th, 2012 at 1:07 PM ^
it's question of whether they should grade you based on how you've done/ resume, or more like power rankings. For example, the Coaches poll have Toledo59, Northern Illinois39, Kent State26, Tulsa19 all with more votes than Michigan. Good luck to those teams in an actual neutral site game vs them.
October 28th, 2012 at 3:30 PM ^
The MAC now has six bowl-eligible teams. I don't think any of them could beat Michigan at a neutral site, at least if Denard plays.
October 28th, 2012 at 2:35 PM ^
And try to score points? Do we still have the laser screen hating, WCO maestro in our booth? Then yes. Sad as it to see it, considering what we have seen Denard, Roundtree, Lewan, etc. do in more capable hands.

It's like that old saying: You're as good as the teams you lose to.
Wait, what?
October 28th, 2012 at 1:43 PM ^
...no, we're not playing like a Top 25 team.
3 losses and no TDs in the last 2 games? Let's not worry about rankings and hope the team can get focused for the next game.

UM isn't your typical 3-loss team given the nature of the losses, but they also haven't beaten anyone with a pulse save for MSU, and that is a bit of a stretch. If they aren't competing for a title the rankings are somewhat irrelevant. I think this team will finish strong, but we've seen the future without Denard and it is a bit scary.
October 28th, 2012 at 3:15 PM ^
With Denard we can barely score a touchdown against a decent team. Without him we won't beat Minnesota. Denard, god bless him, IS our offense. Without him we have NO running game and with him we barely have a passing game.
We need to get real, we beat MSU bcause ouf our defense and field goal kickers. We lost to Bama and ND and Nebrasks because our offense is weak and our offensive gameplan is mind-boggling.
October 28th, 2012 at 1:03 PM ^
Polls do not matter.
The goal is to beat ohio and win the B1G Championship.
This Is MICHIGAN.

MSU still has 1 vote in the coaches poll. Wow.
October 28th, 2012 at 1:09 PM ^
Gotta be Bielema. You just know he had a bar bet with someone that he had to vote for MSU if his team lost.

Also, Alabama needs 101% of the first place votes; I know Mississippi State isn't a world beating team, but just like every other game they've played this season, that was just a foregone conclusion. Absolute domination.
October 28th, 2012 at 2:08 PM ^
Agree ... right now it's Alabama and ... maybe three or four teams. Then everyone else.
If Alabama does to LSU what I expect they will, then it's then simply a matter of who gets the honor of going into the NC game to go up against the 'Bama team. I don't see Georgia doing any better against Alabama in the SEC championship than they did last year.
Barring the really unexpected, Alabama should torch Notre Dame or Kansas State. That leaves Oregon. But Oregon, like many spread teams, is vulnerable if the defensive line gets penetration ... and that's one thing Alabama is really good at.
I expect the best bowl games will be the non-NC ones.
October 28th, 2012 at 8:11 PM ^
I *really* wanna see Oregon's O and Bama's D go head-to-head. Best offense vs. best defense, I think it'll be exciting and also interesting to see how Kelly gameplans for Bama's D in light of what they did to us.
October 28th, 2012 at 8:39 PM ^
We have nothing in common with Oregon.
October 29th, 2012 at 12:58 AM ^
I think Kansas St would debate whether Oregon has the best offense. KState is torching people every weekend, and 3 of their W's are currently ranked. I don't think Oregon's beaten a single team in this weeks Top 25.
October 28th, 2012 at 1:26 PM ^
Polls are just depressing to me now. Kind of like watching the playcalling of Borges. Denard is like Achilles in Troy, the best way to use him is to turn him loose.
October 28th, 2012 at 1:44 PM ^
This should be OT just on principal. Rankings and Michigan football have nothing in common anymore, this year. When I still had some confidence in our offense, the rankings were relevant. Now that its pretty clear we can't run the ball, throw the ball, catch the ball, block, or score touchdowns, its a pointless discussion.
October 28th, 2012 at 1:44 PM ^
RR's Arizona Wildcats (5-3) ranked #24. They lost 49-0 to Oregon.
October 28th, 2012 at 2:43 PM ^
They also put 48 points on Stanford, 59 on Oklahoma State, 35 on Oregon State, etc. (besides putting 38 on and beating USC, which Michigan hasn't done ...). Anyone who has watched RR's first year offense in Arizona and our second year offense with Borges can only weap for our team (and post negative posts, like I do).
October 28th, 2012 at 3:01 PM ^
October 29th, 2012 at 1:03 AM ^
Why would we be weeping? Even though they scored 48 on Stanford, they gave up 54. Even though they scored 35 on Oregon St, they gave up 38. The one stud team on their schedule, Oregon, shut them out. Seems like nothing has changed since his days at UM.
There's a reason why ND, Bama and KState are all undefeated. They have really good defenses.

They also beat USC yesterday
October 28th, 2012 at 2:10 PM ^
it's sad that it took you this long. HellI had to help you figure it out lmao. Bottom line is Michigan will not achieve a national championship under Hoke and Borges. You'll have back to back losing seasons in the next two years and get crushed by Ohio State this year and give Meyer his first win over UM. It's time to wake up to reality and realize Michigan has become nothing more than a mediocre B10 team in a "lives in the past" pathetic conference. Michigan won't win another national title for years to come. The days of glory of this school as a national title contender are slowly starting to close and everyone can see it. SEC will be a power house for years to come. So get use to it. ROLL TIDE!
