Gameday/Noon Games Open Thread
Iowa at Northwestern and IU at Illinois in Big Ten action. In other irrevelant games around the country, Texas plays at Kansas and Tennessee is in South Carolina.
Pulling hard for Northwestern today, as a Michigan victory and an Iowa loss would be ideal.

Don't watch this if injuries make you squeamish, I don't want anyone tossing their cookies all over their computer / iphone / wife / kids.

The Iowa tire fire continues....21-3. Iowa fans across the state are not happy.

Iowa's punt is blocked. Northwestern ball at the 4, and then naturally, Colter gets another rushing TD. 21-3 Northwestern with minimal effort.
What was the game plan for the Hawkeyes now? I think they said something about the runs and stopping them. Imodium perhaps. It may be more effective than this scheme.
October 27th, 2012 at 1:48 PM ^
Ok, if we don't beat Iowa this year, then I think we're cursed
October 27th, 2012 at 1:50 PM ^
Right now NW has 201 yards on the ground, and 25 through the air. Michigan might not have to pass on a single play against Iowa.

Adam_Jacobi ESPN2 is showing something worse than the Lattimore injury. It's Iowa football. 10/27/12 1:44 PM |

Good question. The morphine/analgesic would have to be administered/signed off by a Doctor I assume, but if they have it and Dr. is present, I would like to think so. Like you, I sure hope so too; though I wonder if the shock is keeping any pain away, for now.
October 27th, 2012 at 2:09 PM ^
it's unusual for us to have morphine at a game. toradol is much more common and sometimes used. first and foremost if the knee is dislocated, it needs to be reduced asap. as stated before, the popliteal artery is at risk. usually after the knee is reduced, the pain is much more tolerable. then we place the knee in an immobilizer and apply ice. players usually players do not require an injection of pain medicine. if xrays are available they are taken.

Cool. I know you're responding to the above but thanks for the insight!

Hopefully they keep their foot on the gas to close this one out.

I'm kind of afraid to check out Black Heart Gold Pants. I don't want to see utter insanity
October 27th, 2012 at 1:55 PM ^
Another interesting note, Kyle Prater only has 7 receptions for 41 yards on the year. Not as impactful for NW as originally expected I'd say.
October 27th, 2012 at 1:55 PM ^
Iowa....LOL, wow just plain pathetic. Meanwhile Ferentz continues to take that huge paycheck.
October 27th, 2012 at 1:56 PM ^
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAWKEYES. WE ARE GOING TO ABSOLUTELY KILL THAT TEAM.
It's going to be awesome.

There are no tires left to burn in Iowa. It's just smoldering rubber.

Looking across the landscape of the B1G, there is NO excuse for Michigan to not go to the Rose Bowl this year. Going 11-2 and winning a BCS bowl last year was a failure to Hoke... If we don't win the B1G this year, definitely a failure.
October 27th, 2012 at 2:04 PM ^
This game is huge tonight even more so now. We win,we go up by 2 games on the rest of the league. I cant see Michigan dropping 2 of the last 3. Go Blue!

As it should have been, the pass is incomplete, so yet again, Iowa has to punt it away at their own peril. An end-over-end punt takes a couple bounces and is not returned. I am guessing they would rather not add a punt return for a TD to the list of things that went wrong.
Wow. Iowa has Gaglione down now. They seem to be a few injuries away from literally playing shorthanded rather than figuratively.
October 27th, 2012 at 2:09 PM ^
Starting to look like Iowa could be a great game for our backs to finally get on track running the ball this year. It would be great having some balance going into Columbus.

Another Ash pick. Wow.

Thought he'd try the old Tebow jump screen. He's not Tebow, he should probably set his feet.
October 27th, 2012 at 2:15 PM ^
I've been saying it all year but why have they been given the benefit of the doubt? They're awful.
October 27th, 2012 at 2:22 PM ^
Agree. After the Red River Rivalry debacle I can't believe anybody still talks about them.
I'd like OU to beat ND the same way today though.
October 27th, 2012 at 2:30 PM ^
My guess is it's called the Longhorn Network and/or just being Texas. But I would also like to see OU give ND a Texas-esque beatdown and finally shut Lou Holtz up.

Even with that TD by Iowa on a drive that seemed to take about a month, there's nothing in the stats that says Northwestern can't hang onto the lead, right? Right?
October 27th, 2012 at 2:21 PM ^
I said the play when Northwestern didn't get the 4th and 3 would be the turning point. I stand by that. This is where Northwestern blows the lead...again.

I read that last sentence in Valenti rant voice.

Question: if Iowa is THIS bad, how much do you play Denard if we're still in the driver's seat for the Legends Division with The Game the following week?
October 27th, 2012 at 2:47 PM ^
October 27th, 2012 at 3:04 PM ^
I think you might have accidentally deleted part of your response...? I'm in no way saying that he should not play at all. However, I do think that you need to have some sort of leash on him to keep him healthy. I'd anticipate that we'd limit his carries that week anyway, if we can. Say we're up 3-4 TDs. I'd probably send him out there to "start" a drive and sub him out for Bellomy (so he gets the applause that he deserves). In the scope of the season, we need him 100% against Ohio State.
October 27th, 2012 at 2:35 PM ^
Northwestern keys to the 4th quarter:
- Do not implode
- Employ the rushing version of the tradition Penn State offense and take eons off the clock
EDIT: That was an awfully timed turnover by Northwestern. They were in a position to score and force Vandenberg to channel his inner Geno Smith...wait, what?
October 27th, 2012 at 2:32 PM ^
I cannot even fathom the meltdown that will occur on shaggybevo if Texas loses this game
October 27th, 2012 at 2:36 PM ^
What channel is that game on?

For me, it's on Fox sports detroit
